    Re: Painted engine cover

Now you need to give her a name, like "Li'l Miss T", just like on a bomber.

                  Re: Painted engine cover

The biggest trick to the whole project was removing the ridges on top of the cover to creat a flat surface and waiting for a used cover to show up on Ebay...I didn't want to touch the original.

I just hope she doesn't overheat (the rest tastefully omitted).

                    Rats! I hate being tasteful......

                    Sigh.....

                        Ed,
How did you "sand" off the ridges, and what did you do to make it smooth afterwards?

                          Re: Painted engine cover

The body shop shaved the ridges and then filled the entire piece with a polyester resin they said it would have no problem adhering to the plastic
The whole piece was done to get rid of the "pebble" texture its now smooth as glass.

Looks like they done a great job and I would think the resin will help with the heat problem on the paint as well...

Not a cheap mod I bet...lol...and yes, you do have to give her a WW2 bomber name...

That looks amazing. It will be sharp to see it actually on the car shortly.
