I think your on the right track, Julie, but as Dot said we weren't there. It would have been -
Dot & George - Inca Gold (yellow)
Sally - Torch Red
David & Jeannie - Evening Black with trailer
Desert Sky Blue Top
This must represent their trip to Big Bend National Park in Texas after picking up the hardtop in NM. I think the something blue would have been the lights of the trooper that pulled them over all at once.
