    Thinking of purchasing a T-Bird.

I was scanning the local newspaper (The Toronto Star) and in the classifieds I found an ‘03 Ford Thunderbird 007 James Bond, hard top convertible. The ad says its brand new and never titled with 4000kms. They are asking $34,900; Is this a fair deal? What is the current market price for a T-bird like this?

    Thanks alot!

1992 Mercury Grand Marquis - Purchased new in 1993

    200? Ford Thunderbird........Hopefully soon!

Try Auto Finder. Might find some others more reasonably price. The Bond Car 2003 007 Coral w/White is a rare bird, however, even with the current Canadian exchange rate, that seems high. But if it's what you really want, without shopping for others, no price is too high for your dream car. No matter which Bird combo colour you end up with, it WILL BE your dream car. You can trust us ALL, on that!! Best of luck with your search, and welcome aboard to the ONLY dedicated 2002-2205 Thunderbird Site on the net!!

Hi Peter: Just curious, where is this Bird located ? Thought I knew about all the 007's in the Toronto area. Hard to imagine a Bird with 4,000 k on it and not being titled yet unless it is still owned by a Ford dealership. If you want to know more about the 007's, I have one and am in Oakville, just west of you perhaps.MartinB.

Welcome Peter, I am sure that 'Snowbird' MartinB in Oakville will chime in and let you know and maybe help out with more details. It seems a bit high but the mileage is low and if never been titled it must be the dealers car and they are always a little more optimistic on pricing.
If you have been following the forum you will get the idea that having a Thunderbird becomes a way of life with this gang.

Price is a bit high. There were 700 of them produced. I also don't understand how a car with 2500 miles on it was never titled, maybe a dealer has it and slapped dealer plates on it? I'm thinking 27500 CAD if the thing was never driven in the snow or rain. Even that's pretty high these days. But as Dave said no price is too high if it is your dream car.

Since I got bashed on another thread for posting negative comments critical of the selling price for a high mileage collector's dream Thunderbird, I will withhold my comments on this thread. Don't want to devalue our cars.

Re: Thinking of purchasing a T-Bird.

Peter, a car is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it.

Of course it is entirely the wrong time of year to be selling a convertible so perhaps the dealer (it has to be a dealer if it has never been titled as Snowbird and others said) needs to get it off his inventory list because every month it sits there, it is costing him money even if he has paid for it long ago because he isn't turning over those dollars like he would with say a new Mustang or two.

It is a very fine limited production car...........and for the most part a new or demo car and where else can you buy a new RetroBird?

Hope to see you and your RetroBird regardless of which one you end up with. We have an active Canadian/Ontario TBN group going so come and join the fun, fun, fun.

Come on Charlie that has never stopped you from voicing your opinion before! This guy like the last is asking for opinions and everyone gets to voice his. Our opinion posted here will not change the market!

                  Here is an 2003 FORD THUNDERBIRD-AS NEW-4,254 MILES-TORCH RED sold for US $20,199.00. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-...item230405309b

Now this was not a 007 but I don't think that justifies the 35K asking price. Maybe a 20% premium to put it around mid 20's would be reasonable.

I think the above Ebay Thunderbird deal is a good deal. With its low mileage, the price if very fair.

Re: Thinking of purchasing a T-Bird.

I believe when I was searching for my bird back in June/July of this year I saw an 007 for low 20s(USD) maximum, not sure what the mileage was or the carfax/history however. If this one checks out it may be a car that a collector/investor may buy with the low mileage and low mintage/special edition value - but I wouldn't pay that price if I was going to drive/love it.
I'd look for something a little higher mileage that wouldn't command a premium in price, maybe even with a few dents and dings that could be repaired - there are still 699 others like it, and we are still only a few years out from when it was made. I doubt if they've been all scooped up with noone willing to sell. I have a feeling the car you are looking at may be one of those that some wealthy person buys and locks up in a garage for 20 years and forgets they even own it.

Re: Thinking of purchasing a T-Bird.

Let's keep in mind that the $34,900 is the asking price. One could go into a dealer and offer, say, $29,900, and who knows. that is what is called 'bartering'. When I purchased our 007, I did not pay the asking price. What fun is that. Also, we are talking Canadian dollars here although only about 5 cents difference at the moment.
Back in 2003 the car prices up here where considerably higher than in the U.S. even for cars made here and exported. The 2003 007 was listed at $66,700 plus taxes so you can see where this seller is comming from. In the states it was probably less than $50,000.
So, if this car is really, really nice, and I really wanted it, I would certainly go in and "Barter". Also could be 'fun' fun' fun' .

Thanks alot for the opinions regarding the price!

I'm not really in the market for a T-bird as my Marauder will continue to be my daily driver. I'm just waiting for a super deal and when that super deal arrives I'll consider joining the fold.

I've been also looking at brand new Mustangs but there is something about the Thunderbirds styling that always draws me to it.

The car appears to be located in Tecumseh, On.

If it's being sold through a Ford dealer and has never been titled you might get the original 3/36 warranty that will start when you buy it? I looked at a brand new 02 at a Ford dealer in 07 when I was searching for a TBird. They told me at that time that the warranty would start when the car was sold? The price was out of my range at that time though. I bought my 04 for about 15K less a month later. Might be something to consider, or ask about. Leroy
