Nice, but I'd fumble with the left-handed key.

Look at the picture of member 57 Heaven in the TBN list. He purchased his 57 White 2 years ago for around $47,000 in Fla., you can eat off the underside of his car and see you face in floor boards on the underside of Nat's car.

Not sure what they will get for the one featured via the link, although it is a nice car it is definately a driver not a show car and probably not worth $71 grand paid for the restoration. I somehow doubt that figure looking at the pictures.

Ever since Barrett Jackson auctions started being televised everyone's car is worth more, at least in their minds. I see there are no bids.

None the less a pretty car & color I would think it is a $35,000 car tops.

Drive it like you stole it !!!

I didn't explore the viability of his price (bidding price nor the statement that a few years earlier the car was worth in the $70s range).....I just saw the car, shiny, blue with white top and in very good condition!

I just happened across it on ebay while looking for hardtops for my retro.

Shame to have to give up a slice of Americana.

Oh don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say no if someone wanted to buy it for me! LOL

I am sure you feel the same way if someone handed you the keys and said it's yours.

It is a very nice car, guess I have just seen too many having been involved with T-Birds for over 40 years.

            You should buy it!

Gord - I wouldn't say no to it if YOU wanted to buy it for me!?!!
My husband was looking over my shoulder and blurted out "Buy it Kath!". Sure, right away -- after I sell the house and decide to live in my car! :)
I would love it-- but my pocketbook has its limitations. PLUS -- my old 110 year old home has no garage....that would be tragic for the vehicle!

I wonder where that guy gets all of his T-bird top stuff ?I bought mine from a dealer in Md. and the trunk was clean. The original owner swears that the rack and cover was in it when she traded it in....

Not sure. When I bought my bird, I was told the car was traded in -- with no top. But, when I went through the glove box, there was a photo of the car, with a desert sky blue top on her.

Of course, now I am on a quest to find a hardtop. First preference is white -- but I would take a DSB.

                        Kathleen,

I ran into that when I bought my 02 in 05. The dealer had 5 locations and the car had been for sale at a number of them so they lost track of the roof.

They had to call around to find it. It ended up that the dealership close to home, they had about 6 tops all in different colors sitting there unclaimed.

Likewise the cradle and the tonneau cover were missing for my car. I took the owners manual and called the original owner who had the cradle but threw out the tonneau cover since he hadn't owned the car for a year.

I guess my point is track down the original owner and see if he/she will give you the top that goes with the car. It may just be sitting in the garage on the cradle and taking up space.

Worth a try and the effort is it doesn't cost you anything.

Well Kathleen, my wife is very understanding but not that understanding.

Besides she is complaining about the 6 cars I own now, but 2 are daily drivers. I only have a 2 car garage so the 2 Thunderbirds are inside and the others are outside.

Well you could build a ramp and park the 2 T-birds in your living room rather than live in your car(s).

I would like the car in my living room for sure!

About calling the former owner: I did that. In addition to the top, he also left the extended warranty papers in the car and I wanted to discuss buying the warranty from him. His price for the warranty was close to what a Ford warranty would be -- so I did it on my own (he was able to get a refund for the balance which was more than he would have sold the warranty to me for). Anyway -- he didn't have the top -- claimed when he traded it in, it was there. My car was then bought from the trade-in dealer -- to a wholesaler who never got the top. I called around -- no luck, I am afraid.

I'm confident that I will find one; just not in the timeframe I had in mind. And, my retro will end up looking very similar to this vintage model. **sigh** It really is a pretty car!

Don't you think the dealers will strip off the tops and ebay them instead of leaving them with the car? They maybe can make a bit more profit that way. My boot was missing but the top and rack were included.
