....Had my rear cap replaced, along with the exhausts from the cat. back....$4200cdn.....the licence plate component was $500cdn alone....They had to paint it twice before getting the colour close....You will be fine...low impact...easy repair....It will be all good!.....
Thank goodness the guy came in and told you about it. I agree with everyone - hopefuly it will be back in no time and as good as new. At least you can still drive it this time.
Update: The trucking company's insurance got hold of me this morning. Estimates look OK. Told them I wanted to take it to the body shop that worked on the bird the last time. They said "OK" Only problem is that the body shop will be closed from Dec. 24 till Jan. 4th of next year. Insurance company is working on a rental car for me to use. Told them I would take the car in for repairs on Jan. 4th. I was able to save the license plate so I don't have to order a new one. (takes up to 4 months to get a new one plus $23.00)

What you need is an old pickup truck. If you live near work, it will do fine for basic transportation. I bought a Ford Ranger for my daughter in 1998. When her kids got too big for the jump seats in back, she stored it. I turned in a leased SUV two years ago and she put about $1500 in the Ranger and gave it to me. More than two hundred and twelve thousand miles on it and it hasen't missed a beat. And if it gets hit in a parking lot, I won't suffer.
One of the reasons I now have a truck and my bird. I miss driving the bird everyday, but it does offer a little more protection for me. I was in my Merlot beauty today. Love driving that car. Hope you're back in yours soon.

UPDATE: The Bird is back in the nest. Looks good. There was less damage than first estimated. Did not have to replace the Rear bumper reinforcement bar. Just the rear bumper cover, license attachment package, bumper brackets & bumper impact cushions. Will not drive car till the roads and weather improves.
