Sand interior with black steering wheel

I have a 2004 merlot premium t-bird that has the sand interior color with sand seats, shift knob and convertible top, but the steering wheel is all black. Does anyone else have this color combination?

Ed, did you buy it new or used? If used, it's possible that the steering wheel was replaced or previous owner didn't like the upkeep on a light colored leather.

Yes I did buy it used. It was 2.5 years old when I bought it. I bought it from the same place and same salesmas that sold it new. He didn't say anything about a steering wheel change. I just thought that was the way it was supposed to be.

Salesman probably didn't know the difference.

I could see how the sand steering wheel could be changed out. It definitely gets wear spots on it.

If the steering was replaced, how would I tell if it is a Ford T-bird steering wheel, after marked wheel, or custom job?

The steering will have the Thunderbird logo on it and I do not think there are any aftermarket steering wheels with air bags so you probably at least have a real OEM Thunderbird steering wheel. Also, you will have the audio and cruise control features attached.
