Re: Desert Sky Blue. Hardtop color?

OH! And my husband also did his homework and ordered the Thunderbird Concepts hardtop trim to add to the bird prior to installation of the hardtop! I am so blown away you have NO idea!

Take a picture of it and send it to Spence so he can post pics of the different car combos

Re: Desert Sky Blue. Hardtop color?

Kathleen, I paid 1,100.00 to have my black hardtop repainted. It looks like someone had something on the top of my NM and slid it off. I took it to a completely different body shop, his quote: 1,100.00. The trim piece is the piece that goes all around the top. They use to make them the color of the top, now they just come primed. Both of these guys told me that the top needs to come completely apart, the chrome rings around the windows, the trim piece and the liner. Maybe you can find someone that will just paint the top without taking it apart for less, maybe in other states it's less but here in CT I was quoted the same from 2 independent body shops - $1,100.00 for 1 top. I can tell you that my black top came out immaculate.

Thanks, everyone! Gord -- indeed I feel like a kid who saw Santa Claus!
The Thunderbird Concepts car cover was on backorder, so we have been using my former ragtop's cover for the time being. We have extremely wind and rain conditions here and the cover blew off over night (my 110 year old home does not have a garage -- sadly).
ANYWAY -- here is a picture of the car out in the rain with the new top! Not the best photograph as I took it with my blackberry.

Chuck -- the shop did take the whole top apart (from what my husband tells me). Since this guy is a client of my husband's place of business, he gave Jeff a decent deal on the price- - but I understand he took the thing apart to get it painted. I only saw the car last night after nightfall -- and it is cloudy and raining today, but you can bet I will go over that thing with a fine-toothed comb come sunny daylight!

So, I guess the original intent of this thread has gone awry -- a little! :)

Therefore edited to ask: What other hardtop color do you think I should go for next???

I like Chuck's suggestion of the black -- any other advice and experiences shared are greatly appreciated!

I think the next change should be White Wall tires. Leroy

Looks great with that new white top. Bet you go and look out that window every ten fifteen minutes. Have to agree with Leroy that a nice whitewall would really set of that white top and sort of ballance it out. Just like I will eventually do with our 007.

Martin, those new WWs would look good on the 007 cruisin' up to Ottawa next May... did I mention that Ottawa Spring Bling is only 139 days away??
