  • Removing shift handle

I just purchased a dash trim kit in brushed aluminum for my 2004 bird. How do you remove the shift handle to install a trim piece around the shifter? Thanks in advance. I have found many helpful items on this website.

Pull the black and chrome piece at the bottom down to expose 2 screws that secure it to the shifter.

You do not need to remove the handle. Heat the piece with a hair dryer to make it flexible and then just slide the opening over the shifter handle. It will go I have done it many times installing dash kits. Lou

Tried to remove handle and like Joseph warned it would not budge, so I took Lou's advice and heated up the material and moved it over the shift handle. Thanks, Gang!
