  • Re: 2010 T-Bird sightings...

On our last day of vacation in North Myrtle Beach, we drove past Fat Harold's Beach Club (home of the Carolina Shag dance). Parked on the street was a MSG with "A Shager" plates. If we weren't on our way out of town, we might have stopped in to meet the owner.

      Catching up my sightings.....

-Last week, an black 80's-ish bird was in front of me heading into Redstone Arsenal. They must have seen me in their rearview, and THEY waved like crazy. I waved back, then they turned off.

-On our way up from visiting Barb's mom in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, headed Northbound on I-65 to Huntsville, we saw a silver bird with its soft-top up, and a few miles later a black bird with its hardtop on. We were in the SportsTrac, but still waved and flashed the lights....no reply from either bird.

-Got to see Phil Anderson's new PCR (#150) at work Friday. Phil and I both work at the same company, and I had not been able to see his new car until just recently. Looks SHARP!!!

      Great week for spotting tbirds!

I was going to participate in this thread but decided it would be unfair I live in the t-bird state FLA. and see at least 1 a day and some days 3 or 4 I do see at lot fewer tho.

Spotted a TB Blue '02 with black soft top, when driving by the local BK restaurant this morning. Wisconsin lic. plate read: "Donnas T". Before I knew it, is was flying down the road.

Driving to work on Friday, I came upon an 04 Black with the softtop up. Passed by him on the right (3 lanes, one way) and he followed me almost all the way into downtown Phoenix.

At 101° in the shade, I bet his soft top WAS up!

Saw my friend "TAFCO" in his DSB this afternoon (top up - it's 97° here, with humidity to match). I was in the Expedition, and he doesn't (or didn't) know I even drive one, but I guess he saw my license plate, 'cause he waved first! (plates on all my cars are Key Largo in various spellings)

Left South MS. May 5, and arrived in Niagara Falls, N.Y. today. Have been to NC, Lancaster, PA., and to Watkins Glen. We have seen probably 6, on the entire trip so far. Most recent one seen was a black T-Bird today heading East on I-90, (NY Thru-Way) as we were West-bound. They are most definitely scarce on the highways.

Bill - I hope you really meant June 5. That's an awfully long time on the road to reach Niagra!

                    Is it Elle, or Charley?
May 5th was right. It has been a long circuitous route, and we are still a month out. Probably will start working our way home in time to be there approximately mid-July. We will go from here to the 1000 Islands, then to Maine and probably into Nova Scotia before turning South and heading for home. Just wandering around! Can't wait to get home and take the T-Bird out for a spin around town. I'm missing it! Bill

Wow - impressive! But only 6 Birds in that long time! Hope the rest of your trip is safe, and that you'll encounter more sightings!

                      Oh - and it's Elle!

                          Tuesday June 15th

Saw two red birds and a Thunderbird Blue (with TBC's hard tonneau) in the parking lot of a grocery store on Dogwood Avenue in Franklin Square, NY! It was Tuesday night classic car night - and I have passed that way for the past three years and never noticed the birds before! If my son was not with me -- and if my car was just recently washed -- I would have likely stopped to see if these guys were TBN members. They waved when they saw me and my son BEGGED me not to stop! LOL!!!

Port Orchard Wa. A white bird top up, as was mine. 55 and rain, Ah another great summer day here in the Northwest. Top down days are few but outstanding when you do catch one.

Red T-Bird heading west on Sunrise Highway between Rockville Centre and Lynbrook-- actually making a U-turn to go east (or head into the gas station on the corner).

Those red birds really catch my eye!
