We got the Shelby back from 2 weeks in the shop...replacing the OEM clutch for the 4th time (Ford admits it's faulty), but rather than let them pay for yet another crappy clutch, we shelled out the big bucks for the heavy-duty after-market version, and just HAD to take it for a cruise tonight. Driving down Shore Drive just east of the Lesner Bridge we decided to take a sharp right and have dinner at Bubba's. Looky what we found in the parking lot!!! I left cards in both Birds. Hope they find us here at TBN, if they aren't already members!

Saw the back of an EB convertible (top up, it was raining) on I70 eastbound this afternoon. I was a passenger in my son's Yukon but, since it was being driven in the rain and there is no TBN event in the Baltimore area, the Sherlock Holmes in me deduced this was not a TBN member.

I drove my Thunderbird from South Carolina to Burlington, Vermont earlier this month (1000 miles each way) I did not see a single Thurderbird, and I was looking for them. However, I was treated to about a two hour drive on I-81 passing and being passed many times by an orange Dodge Challenger. Beautiful car, and he gave me a thumbs up on my Thunderbird, which I already knew was a beautiful car. Fun, such fun!

When I came through Charlotte on my way home (about an hour from home), I stopped at Lowe's Home Improvement store to pick up something......There it was in the parking lot....A 2003 PINK Thunderbird. PINK, car and top, black interior with pink trim. Pink chassis.

I went inside the store and started asking every girl who looked like they might drive a pink car, even asked one guy who had a funny walk. (turns out he just had a hemorrhoid flare up) I finally found her, she bought the car as it was from a couple who had taken the car apart and painted it for their daughter for a graduation gift (don't know the rest of that story). She told me the engine was painted pink also.

I told her about TBN. She was excited to find out more about the car. She thought she had just a pink car. If you read this Julie, Hello again.

OK, this is long, long overdue. On Saturday, May 1st, while visiting friends in Surprise, AZ, saw two Torch Red Birds (driven by owners with obviously very good taste) within about 15 minutes of each other in the afternoon. One had the hardtop on, the other the convertible top up. I figure at least one of these owners must be on this site. Was it you?

Spotted a red 03 on a used car lot in Duncan OK. today.

spotted a red 02 in Bill Green's garage yesterday. OH, wait. We followed it to his home so it was spotted continuously for about 5 min.

Also spotted a black 03 and a black 04 earlier. Seems one had a white top and the driver was very familiar. Oh Wait! they were waiting for us to show up at another friend's home. (geesh) Never saw the DSB 03 that was parked behind closed doors!

Saturday, 05/22 - US 1 north in Hyattsville. Red & black 2002 w/ DC plates. Stoped next to me at a light (actually spotted him in my rear view mirror and he moved over to get beside me). Quick chat - mutual admiration. Used to post on TBN, didn't get a chance to ask why he quit. Played cat and mouse up through College Park before he disapeared.

Yesterday night I was up to Zion Illinois on Russell Road to celebrate my sister's 65th birthday and as I was driving home in my new Lincoln MKS I saw a Whisper White convertible up ahead. He pulled off the road far enough ahead of me so that when I got up to that point, I couldn't make out what year the Bird was. Was nice to see another bird topless and enjoying an evening drive (it was in the high 80's yesterday).

Part II - Saturday 05/22 Koons Ford-Mazda Silverspring. 2004 Merlot & Light Sand. Very nice. I was ordering a chrome nose guard for my Ranger. A couple of salesmen were quite smitten. One tried to get me to trade it on a Mazda. I declined.

I seen a Merlot today on the same used car dealers here in town that has been there for over a year now. 9 out of 10 times I drive by it is not there on the lot. The owners son drives it around town more than it is on the lot for sale. I stopped in last year to have a look at it and it came from the U.S. as it was in miles, and they put a high price on it.

I got to say, on a nice hot sunny day like today is, when I drove by the lot, the Merlot color is breathtaking...
