  • Trip Computer-Dimming Mirror

I have seen some stuff about dimmable/compass mirror retrofit and would like a little more detail. I see a few used ones for sale on eBay. Will any year Lincoln LS mirror fit a Retrobird?
And how about the trip computer? Has anyone attempted installing that unit?
It is a nice feature and the instrument panel has room for it.
It would brighten up that dark lower rt. corner a little.

The mirror is an easy install. You will need to get power to it from the overhead header bar. The somputer is a different kettle of fish. I don;t think it can be done. To my knowledge, nobody has done that. The easiest way not to get a trip computer is to use a GPS.

I plan on adding the dimming mirror and have also considered this aftermarket information system. Here is the link to it. Check it out, I don't know of anyone installing this yet. I may be the gueinie pig.

        Bradford,
I vote for you to be the first to install the information system mod. Looks very interesting.Where would you attach it? It is a little more than 4" wide.

I installed a Gentex auto dimming mirror shortly after I purchased my car in 05. The one purchased has the compass and temp display. The auto dimming feature at night with the top down is a “must have” in my opinion. I use the temp gauge to monitor the actual temp inside the cockpit since the HVAC system will only show outside temp or the temp you have the HVAC set to. Since purchasing my mirror Gentex has come out with a more narrow version mirror but I do not believe it has compass or temp options. The more narrow version might be a good option due to the amount of visibility the OEM size mirror takes away from the driver.
