        Dot:

The 4 most recent single packs I have received have the following numbers:

        0919
        0949
        1001 (2)

All of my singles have come from friends who are on the look out for them. I geuss I have about a dozen singles now, but they came from only 4-5 stores. Most times they are coming up empty. I'm geussing that my "searchers" have been to at least 25 Walmarts collectively.

Package Alert! Be aware that these cars are available in another package as seen in this eBay link:

          http://cgi.ebay.com/FORD-THUNDERBIRD...item414dab62da

I believe that Walgreens Drug Stores carry this package, so you have another place to look.

          Happy Hunting......

thanks for the package alert, Paul. I had heard that Walgreens was carrying them now but didn't know the package difference.

I found two at the local WalMart (that is probably one of the smallest super WalMart's in the country). Package number 1001.

Found one at Walgreens . Speed Wheels. It was .79 cents, '02 blue and a Maisto model.
Back of card is stamped 0945 and stamped on the underside of the car is 0944 - Don't have any idea what this means either.

Dot: I reviewed every post it appears that most are in 5 packs and from Walmarts. This may be the first singhle pack from Walgreens - If not first it's one of a very few:)

George, I was alerted to Walgreens a few weeks ago by a diecast collector. They're scarce there too as he checked several Walgreens and only found that one.

The numbers are batch control numbers. Useful for the manufacturer if they have to trace a problem that shows up after it's sold - like the paint problem with Mattel's CARS "sarge" that they had to have a recall on a couple of years ago. I'm hopng that the batch numbers will eventually give us an approximation of how many are produced.

Well I at least saved $0.09 as I found one single at a Walgreens for $0.79 (number 0943 on card) Note sure if it was worth the 79 cents as I spent 10 minutes trying to put all the other models back on the self as they kept falling as I was looking through all of them

                    Later I found 2 of the 5-packs at a walmart number 0942 & 0943 on the cards.

I also found this 2000 Ford Thunderbird at the same Walgreens for $6.79

So the only color is that "Thunderbird Blue"?
Only 2 per assortment, hey? Snapped up the 2 at our local Wal Mart (Cleveland OH -- Lake County area). Nearly missed'm -- was looking for an open car, & they're hardtops!
Package is not custom to the car in it -- car is imprinted underneath, but hard to read being black on black & under plastic -- need a magnifier & good light. Just says "Thunderbird" tho, not year, so far as I could see.
They're not half bad, detail's decent & color's pretty much spot on -- & all for a mere 88¢ each. Very nice for the price point!
Anyone know if there's other colors? If not, yes we're all going to have to figure out how to customize color at least! (Hey, sudden thought -- would touch up paint work??!!)

Numbers on the back of mine are 0950 (in that little lower right hand box) Stk #15044 == but that could be for the assortment too.

Here's the TB on the Maisto site:

                        http://www.maisto.com/products_detai...=&id=189&pg=13

See there's also a vintage Bird, but that looks a bit cruder in the picture:

                        http://www.maisto.com/products_detai...=&id=189&pg=13

There's some interesting "old iron" in this collection ("3" Vehicles") -- is that a vintage 300 I saw?

Assume you've all seen the Model HO scale 02(?) 03?

                          http://3000toys.com/catalog/item_det...L%20POWER19270

Found one on eBay for about $7.50 including shipping -- we also have one of these , pulling a vintage RV trailer.

                            and there's Barbie's, search BARBIE-2002-FORD-THUNDERBIRD-SPORTS-CAR

Have no idea why all these on eBay are in the UK.

Detail is decent (plain black interior), but scale's a bit fudged -- it's in scale to itself but slightly off scale to the dolls, due box size constraints. No hardtop -- dolls' heads'd go thru it anyhow!(Mattel does this on all Barb's cars.)

Process Plastic also made a 55-57 style TB in this scale -- years ago! Bright hot pink, but once you get the silly decals off, & paint the chrome, not half bad, swapped out the wheels on ours for a better vintage look.

And we also have a radio control one -- something like 1/18th?

Just so ya know to keep looking!

Frank, This model just came on the market in December after a years wait since Maisto got the ok to make it from Ford. Thunderbird Blue is the only color it comes in so far. They will not do another color unless either of these two conditions are filled: 1 - they run out of this color (with a minimum of a 1 year run on this color). They probably did a 10K run on the model, or 2 - they get a special order for a color from someone willing to buy 10K of them.

Model Power's model has been on the market since about 2004 in 3 colors with or without a trailer but there is a price difference as you've noticed. There are other colors of that model as that model is made by High Speed. The Maisto model is the first small scale aimed at kids to play with, not collectors.

Touch up paint will work but it's been easier to use a Sharpie and highlight some of the missing details.
