I replaced mine on the 04 Raven last week at 50k miles. I will check my service notebook for the cost. Mine was starting to fray so I had it replaced to err on the side of caution.

I will get back to you about cost tonight.

The belt is fairly cheap (About $20sih from Ford, $15ish elsewhere) and roughly $90 to put on. I would change the belt when you see lots of cracks on the grooved side, if it's frayed or the "hills" on the belt on the grooved side are chipped.

Also note that if the belt is worn or frayed on one side, replace the idler pulley. Also check the tensioner pulley as well.

I looked last night and the cost was $17.50 : No more squeek when I first start in the morning. Labor was $27.

.....Thanks Joseph....I'm guessing that wasn't dealer pricing?

Right ... I have had the same independent mechanic for over 10 years who is also a old friend. I feel very lucky to have somebody I can depend on & trust. Before warranty expired on my previous Birds I took them to my Ford dealership it could never be said any work performed was not repaired by a Ford dealership mechanic thus refuse to honor warranty. The 04 raven was already had an expired warranty so that has never been a issue.

BTW for what it is worth my mechanic says those much touted Carmax extended warranties are a joke.
