I haven't needed tires on my TBird yet, but I have resently had to buy tires for my 04 GMC Z-71 4x4. I found my best deal after checking, Tire Rack, Tire Barn, NTB, and local name brand dealers at Sears, not only did they have the best price on the tires but also the road hazard insurance. Plus free tire rotation and flat repairs as long as I own them. Goodyear Silent Armor. When it comes time to put new tires on my TBird, I'll definatly give Sears a call. Leroy

Belle Tire also gives free lifetime tire rotation, alignment check, balancing and flat repair and I would prefer giving local business the business when all things are equal (or at least CLOSE to being equal).

You are sooooooooo very right.

It is not so much what each of the tire sellers charge for the tires, the difference is all the other stuff they charge for like the mounting/balance, road hazard package, disposal fee and etc. Plus what they will do later on after the sale like free rotation and re-balance. These are the items that move the price up & down and what brings back the customer.

In light of the way this thread that I started has turned...................

Purchasing the tires from Tire Rack would not have given me lifetime tire rotation, alignment check, balancing and flat repair yet the total cost @ Belle Tire (a Michigan based company) was only $9.00 more and DID give me those freebies. Yeah, I know there is no such thing as a free lunch but I look at it this way - I only paid $9.00 for those items.

It is easy to compare the cost of Tire Rack vs anyone else. With Tire Rack you have the cost of the tires, shipping, and then mounting, balancing, road hazard (if interested), and etc. at some location near you. With a delta of only $9. the local purchase @ Bell appears to have been a good decision.

Tire Rick, Discount Tires, & Treadepot are probably a better alternative for those of us living away from metropolitan areas, because of the lack of competition in our smaller towns.

Sounds like you did really well with only a $9 difference. The cool thing about this or anything else about our cars is that only the owner(s) have to be happy. Sometimes that little fact seems to be lost around here.

LOL, thank you, you are absolutely correct. I am also very thankful to those that recommended the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. Although I have not driven in the wet or light snow yet but the Tire Rack ratings for these tires were pretty good for tires in this category.
