    Re: fuel pump

Yes, my pump went out last year (around August-September, I believe). Mine is an '02 with low miles and the replacement was covered under my Extended Warranty.

Some on TBN feel this might be occurring on Birds that aren't used much (like my Garage Queen) or because of the use of ethanol or Sta-Bil (I use Sta-Bil when she's in storage over the winter). My car had to be towed from our house to the dealer but like I said, everything was covered (I was lucky in that the extended warranty just had a few months to go!).

I've since purchased another Extended Warranty so I'll be covered for a few more years.

No, this should NOT be happening so soon on these cars!

      Re: fuel pump

Indiana doesn't have to label thier gas pumps if the gas contains 10% or less Ethanol. Most gas suppliers add 1% to 2% Ethanol to their gas to absorbe the water. Ethanol reduces the octane level of gas and the shelf life. So I guess the best thing to do is buy the highest grade and octane gas you can find and hope there's not enough Ethanol in it to do any damage to your fuel system. Leroy

Re: fuel pump.Signs of fuel pump going out.

I was driving 65 MPH on Cruise Control, and it was just like someone reached over and turned the kiey off. No cough, no sputter, or anything, Just coasted to a stop. When attempt was made to restart the engine, it would turn over great, just would not start. Had to be towed.

The FUSE blows when it goes out. If a new fuse is placed, you can drive it for a couple of minutes before it blows again, which I found interesting.
