I get the most comments on my PCR with the contrasting hardtop on.
You don't see any other tu-tone cars today so it really stands out, then add portholes and everyone, not just car people, know it's something different.
Without the hardtop, to non-car people, it's just another convertible, top up or top down

I would like to advance a minority opinion: it looks best with the soft top up. This is especially true of the Merlot, Torch Red and PCR. The contrasting soft top color is stylish and enhances the very 50's color scheme over the doors, seats and transmission tunnel. It really makes the lithe, low, lance-like lines of the car pop, and it carries well the distinguished lines of a traditional convertible. I have the TR with the full accent interior, and it has a beautiful, low-silhouette with the soft top in place.

Non-matching hardtop "two-tone" look is my favorite. CLASSIC.

I enjoy driving the car most when it's a top-down convertible.

The top down look is great, I think. That being said, the car turns heads no matter which top is on / off / up or down.

Top down is my preference. This car was designed from the ground up to be a convertible. I suppose and argument could be made for the hard top too - especially if you have a contrasting color... but for me, top down give she essence of the car.

Re: Poll For Which Way Shows Better?

I think the car shows best with a lighter colored contrasting hard top and White tops show real nice with white wall tires. I noticed that some of the 50s TBirds in Barrett-Jackson's auction last week were two tone, I don't know if they were original or not but they looked nice. Leroy

                I'd vote for top down.

Was it possible to order them with contrasting hardtops, or did that require a repaint?

Portholes showing which means hardtop is on. Since we have a white porthole top and yellow or blue car to put it on, it's a contrasting color that gets everyone on the roads attention whether you want it or not.

How often is the hardtop on? maybe a couple weeks out of the year. The rest of the time, we're enjoying the ability to enjoy the air. hmm, it's been quite awhile since we've done that.

guess you haven't read any of the brochures. yes, most(but not all) of the colors could be ordered with either a white or black hardtop.

I agree! The car does turn heads no matter if the top is up or down. I love the top down, and with our headrest covers on, it informs those that do not know what kind of car it is, that it's a "Thunderbird"!

It shows off the beautiful interior!

I do like the top down but it has a nice style with the soft top up.

Harold, I'll have to look for you on the roads around here. I've never seen any of your TBN posts before, but my husband and I live in Farragut.
