Congrat, Greg! Nothing feels better than eliminating that debt and being able to call it 100% yours.

      On another note -

Greg, with your IT work for the FDIC, have you met Russell Pittman, the acting CIO of the FDIC? He used to work as the Director of the Office of Information Technology for the Indian Health Service. I worked on a committee where we interacted with him several times. His twin brother, RADM Robert Pittman, just retired as the Chief Pharmacist of the U.S. Public Health Service. Both are very nice guys.

Paul, no I've never met Mr. Pittman. Most of my contact with FDIC IT personnel have been by telephone only. I'm a contractor working with a company called Volt Management. Each bank that gets closed has an FDIC PCAM (post closing asset manager) assigned to it and those are the people I generally report to.

          Re: They're All Mine Now!

The only things that I've ever bought on time are my house (paid off now) and a used 1957 Olds 98 convertible (borrowed $1,100 dollars from the local "Bank of Mom and Dad" in 1961).

Beautiful car, but not the performer that my friend's 57 Olds Super 88 J2 (three two barrel carb engine) was.

The Olds had a high, center dashboard clock, so I sat in the back watching the second hand when he did a standing start 0-60.

Between 6.5/7 seconds. Pretty quick for a 1957 car.

No, two is plenty. I don't expect to have any car payments for quite a long while now.
