Took Greta into the dealership today for a weird a/c issue. When the a/c is turned on, the passenger side gets cool air, while the driver's side puts out scorching hot air. This happens no matter whether the dual a/c is on or not, and regardless of the a/c temperature setting. The center vents also put out warm air. Anyone ever had this issue?

Thanks John! I did search through the posts, but didn't see that thread....guess I searched on the wrong terms!

Anyway, I am glad it seems to be covered under the Ford ESP!

      Thanks,

I just went through something similar and in the end it turned out to be the "Coolant control valve" which allows hot coolant to enter the heater core even if you desire Cold air.

It was covered under the extended warranty with a $100 deductible. Oh Yeah, they also replaced the whole Dual A/C dash unit because the computer test told them to! That did not fix the problem but the coolant valve did.

"heater control valve" and "coolant control valve" the same?

Got the car back from the dealer this morning. A/C is fixed and working fine. It was the heater control valve, as suspected, and cost $253.00. With the ESP, it just cost me the $100 deductible.

Dealer charged me over $500 for my LS heater control valve.

Bobby, is there a part number on your paperwork? As our cars age and warranties expire, it may be handy to have that on this thread......especially for the do-it-your-selfer's

                  George, it is:

2R8Z18495AA, and the nomenclature is: VALVE ASY

In the problem narrative on the work order, it also calls it:
HEATER CONTROL VALVE ASY (COOLANT CONTROL VALVE)

Cost for the part is $115.42.
