No - not my elusive PCR!

We are now in the possession of Charley's mother's 1989 "Titanium Metallic" Thunderbird LX. She is no longer allowed to drive (dr's orders) and it's been sitting in her garage for 6 months. Charley's been using it to drive her to her many dr's appts, but given the situation with the Shelby, I suggested (and not subtly), "USE IT FOR WORK"!!!! So, we've bought it from her (not without protest...she still thinks she can drive).

We know the car's entire history...C's dad bought it brand new in the fall of '88 when he retired from Ford American Road Ins., thinking it would be perfect for their planned travels around the country. Unfortunately, he died of lung cancer a year later, and barely ever got to drive it. In just slightly over 21 years, the car still only has approx 40K miles on it, and it has been maintained on a regular basis (Charley made sure of that).

Works for me. Now I get my Expedition back when the weather is bad.

Nice bird Elle. But tell me, what is behind the garage doors that makes the birds park outside?

The HVAC system for the workshop/poolhouse, planer, joiner, other assorted machines for woodworking (also to go in the shop), lawn tractor and 2 other lawn mowers (also to go in the shop's garage). Finishing the other building took a detour last year when some other priorities came up, hence the vehicles are outside. At least my Birds are covered!

My 94 LX 4.6 has about 148,000 on it now.

Always reminded me of a mini Lincoln Mark.

Beautiful Elle & Charlie. My wife and I had matching 89's and bought them new. Still wish I had one of them. Other then the retro birds and vintage (55 to 58) I think they are the nicest looking ever made - JMO. Congratulations! I hope Charlie's mother is doing okay. My Dad just gave up his license one day - he knew he couldn't drive, no fuss. I hope I'm that smart when and if the time comes.

This is my wife's 94 LX. I bought it for her birthday in 94. It now has 35,400 miles and still looks new. It has been pampered since day one. Still all original except battery, tires and serpentine belt. She says it will never have another owner!! (Picture is a couple of years old, but the car still looks as good.)

My dad did the same thing in 1998 when I was visiting my folks in AZ. He handed me the keys to his '70 Caddy and said, "See how much you can get for it". We sold it the next day, and it was really tough on him, but he knew his driving days were over.

We got a call from C's mom this morning, all in a panic...she said someone had stolen the T-Bird and would we please call the police. Charley tried to remind her of yesterday's events, but she insists it was stolen, so he's driving to her house now to prove it. Oh, boy.

Yes, the car is extremely clean, inside, outside, engine, etc. I don't think it's ever been farther away from southside Tidewater than Gloucester, VA (about 50 miles), and literally mainly driven to church and grocery store.

Bucket seats. We couldn't care less about the tires. They're fairly new, and we didn't take the car for show...as a structural engineering inspector, Charley drives 200-500 miles/wk driving from site to site (let alone his office is 20 miles from home), and he just wants to save the Shelby from total destruction (and I wanted my Expedition back when it rains). The '89 Bird is going to be quite well 'used' in no time at all, and for a $500 price tag, we won't feel guilty if something goes wrong with it. While the rest of our "fleet" is more prized, this Bird is just transportation to get from point A to point B.
