  • Satelite Capable????

Keep your fingers crossed!!! I am negotiating for another Bird. A 2005 50th Anniversary. The detail says that the radio is "satelite capable". Is there a module or accessory for satelite? Is it still available? Anyone know what that would cost?

    Thanks..

Try these guy's for the sirius down link that needs to be added. It also needs a cable. They will know what you need. www.radiosandmore.com

When it is installed have them put the antenna under the trunk lid. Remove the cover and glue to the underside. Trunk lid is fiberglass and does not interfere with the reception and only you know that you have sat. radio installed. On my car, they put the receiver in the trunk as well all I see is the antenna wire near the hinge on the drivers side.

Dang! That is something worth while knowing.

I haven't permanantely installed the satelite radio or antenna yet because I didn't want it sitting on top of the trunk........just a little 3 M tape on the backside and it is done!

          Many thanks!

Another trick to consider is placing the reciver in the "well" between other rear quarter panel and the lip for the trunk lid. Removed one of the tail light assemblies and you will see a rubber plug. Run the antenna wire through there and then to wherever you installed the satellite module.

Many threads on TBN about the satellite radio add on kit be it the Sirus or XM units. Might want to do a search and soo what others have done and experienced.

Not sure if I'm interpreting this right, but I believe the 3M goes on the upside, not the backside. It still needs be facing up, just like it was sitting on top of the trunk lid. Mine is so installed - close to center of the trunk lid to give it lots of open space around it.

If I install it upside down do you suppose I will get signals from Australia?

I imagine you are getting signals (and voices) from several places. However, AUS does not have Sirius. They are a drawkcab nation where you will fall out of a convertible if you drive with the dop down and no seatbelts. Remember, the guys in the white coats are just trying to help you.

I didn't know you would fall out with top down in Australia. Good to know.

I had Mobile Electronics of LaGrange GA install our sat radio. They are excellent, they also added an automatic mirrow with the compass for us.
