  • Interesting Chat w/ a Thunderpenquin

At a recent social event I shared a table with a really nice woman - we had actually met a year or so ago. In the course of polite conversation we go around to cars and she told me that she had a Thunderbird - questions and comparison ensued. It's a 2002, she's had it for 2 + years, it's black with a white hard top, and it's has an all black interior. Then she said she was curious to know what color soft top it had. So the story goes - - - she won't take the top off until she can park it in her garage. But, the driveway is so steep - she's afraid of the strain to the engine. It also drags at the back at the beginning and bottoms out going over the sill into the garage. It's been egged once on the street, so now it lives under a cover and only goes out on nice days around town. I told her the top was most likely black and relatively low maintenace. Also told her to try backing up the driveway - reverse is a lower gear and the change in overhang geometry might be enough to clear. Meanwhile - there's a nice '02 somewhere that is desperately in need of some top-down exercise. I hope it gets it soon.

In all of this Sealy, did you direct her to TBN?

Sounds like you should direct her to Home Depot for lumber to build up the driveway at the sill so she can get in her garage, and after she gets enough courage to drive it up the driveway
