  • Head Light Switch Problem?

I have done a search for this topic, but did not find anything. I think our 04 has an issue with the headlight switch. Even when it is in the off position it acts like it is in the delay position. IE: When you start the car the headlights and tailights come on if it is dark, just like they do if the switch is in the delay position. IF you play with the switch you can sometimes get the lights to go off when the switch is in the off position. A couple of time our battery has drained. I have reviewed some of the other posts on dead batteries, but none have pointed to the possibility of a short in the headlight switch. I am going to price a new switch, but wanted to see what other thoughts may be out there.
    Thanks, Jay

If the switch is just to the left of the OFF position, will the lights shut off fairly quickly after the car is shut off? If so, you could leave the switch in that position instead of off.

      Jay,

It sounds like the headlight switch is defective and you should get it into the dealer and get it fixed (replaced).

Not sure if you have extended warranty, but this might be considered a wear and tear item.

I had a similar problem with my 08 Ford Edge and it was the switch and the sensor for the auto head light (dusk to dawn) switch. Fortunely for me it was a new car warranty item.
