Did I Buy the Correct Ash Tray Insert? Part Number, Please?

Hi:

I am rarely serious on this forum...but today, I do need some help.

I went to the Ford dealer for the ash tray insert for the cupholder on my 2005 Cashmere interior. The console is a medium brown. Note: I do NOT smoke, but I want it for carrying small change, etc.

The dealer said they only make one cupholder for all the Thunderbirds, and it is a dull black with part number:

5L8Z*7804810*AAA 239

I did buy it... and it is still in the box.

Could someone please confirm with another Ford dealer if there was a separate one made for the Cashmere interior?

If it is the only cupholder, then I will use it. If there is a different number, I will sell this one and pass along the discounted price I paid for it (plus shipping) then, use the money to buy the correct one.

Carl, I don't have a good photo showing that cupholder so will have to wait for an orignal owner to speak up

I have a 2005 Cashmere that I purchased new and it has a matt black color. MY 2002 Red/Black has the same color. I think Ford only made that one color.

You are going to love the Cashmere color, it turns different colors in other lights.

Mine has the following part number on the bottom:

F8C6-5404788 MOLD #1598 ADW. It has other markings, including the Ford oval.

Matte black finish.

Not only paint it, but put chrome pinstriping on it and a miniaturized Thunderbird logo!!! Of course, I have to find the matching brown... that could be a challenge.

Hey... it's another option I have for the car. Someday, if I ever sell it, it's one more thing to add to the list plus, I get to use it now for change!

So... I bought the ashtray and for the entire summer, I endured that it did not fit right (stuck up too high). When I went to visit some other Cashmere owners (mini Cashmere Conspiracy), I took it out because it stuck out like a sore thumb. I sent it to the basement shelf to hang out with other Cashmere parts.

Strange but true... I came down yesterday, saw the ill-fitting on the floor, picked it and carried it back outside. Plunked it into the console hole and....IT FIT FLUSH AND LOOKED PERFECT!! I have NO ideas what happened. Right now the theory is:
1) The Thunderbird fairy visited my basement and blessed it.
2)... to come.

Actually, you placed it the correct slot I suspect. The cup holders are 2 different depths.

Carl, The two cup holders are two different sizes. I just measured them. The front one is 2.940 and the back one is 3.03 or close for these. For what that's worth.
