    Re: luggage rack problems

    Hi Bradford,
I have a quick solution; Gorilla Glue! That's what we are now using to insure that no one has your same problem. If you want, I can ship you new pads as well. Please Private Message me, call or email me.

The stuff is tough and is a quick fix if your pads slip. I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

          Re: luggage rack problems

Alright!!!! The final solution is here....

We now have new foot pads that will last the life of the Trunk Rack. They are a perfect, rubber protective foot pad, that both grip the surface and will not flatten or scratch the paint.

We will be mailing out replacement pads to everyone who has bought the trunk rack with the first foot pad design. We should have all of them in the mail by next week.

Thanks again everyone for being so patient!
          Talk soon and Happy Tbirding,
          Aaron

Aaron, Thinks, I did make a change in mine to give it a bigger footprint and it works but look forward to getting the revised version.

Now, can you do anything to help me get my 2012 Focus to me??

Aaron, Glad to hear this as I'm still having problems with my pads slipping, put the rack on a couple of weeks ago and immediately took it off. Hope this solves the problem.

Was planning to install the rack for the first time this week-end but with this news maybe I'll wait a bit longer. Thanks Aaron

                  Re: luggage rack problems

My rack is on permanently. I just assumed the slipping was occurring because I let the weight on the trunk slam it shut. I adjust it now and again. No biggie. It's never come close to falling off.

If the Mark II had been given legs on the front I would have bought it and given the other one away.

I don't use the straps. It seems nuts to have such a pretty thing and then attach it with straps. They look like an afterthought.

I have had my rack on the Bird for several months. No problems yet. I just keep the 4 screw clamps tight.
Try giving Aaron a call about the problem.

                          Re: luggage rack problems

Yes, I agree. The first set of foot pad cushions worked, but, they were not perfect in my opinion. They were a little soft and they would smash down too much. The new foot pads are 100% perfect. Perfect hardness and size. So, why not make it perfect, right. I want the trunk racks to last for years and years. It's just my thought on the subject.

In regards to the safety straps; Since, we are a business, we do have to make sure we cover our liability. So, we do suggest the safety straps when carrying a load. But, for your information, I don't ever use the safety straps on my Tbird, ever... even with a load. It's simply a liability issue. We have to suggest it. Ultimately, it's up to you if you want to use the Safety Straps.

                          Thanks again everyone! Happy Tbirding,
                          Aaron

Anyone else have a problem with the screws on the rear clamps being a bit short? I could not get the nuts on. The rack has been off all winter but I will be putting it back on soon, after the new pads come. My plan was to follow Spence's lead, I already have all the material.
