  • Lincoln Mercury Dealer (COP)

    Hello,

I purchased my 2003 three years ago with 20K. At 59K I encountered my first COP issue where the wrench light came on followed by the check engine light. All of my service was completed at a Ford Dealer Ship outside of St. Louis MO. I’m now at 68K and have started to encountered wrench light/check engine light again. I made the decision to take the car to a Lincoln Mercury dealer as recommended in numerous posts within this sight. I will pick the car up today- per the service manager I had 4 COP failures that will be replaced and they are checking it again today. The Lincoln Mercury Dealer is Dave Sinclair and they seem to be aware of the COP issue. I’m curious to see if the failures are reoccurrences (repaired at the Ford Dealer or 1st time failures). I should be able to tell from the work order from the Ford Dealer compared to the Lincoln Mercury Dealer.

Be thankful you are covered under the Ford warranty. Our '02's are not covered. It was a good decision to take the car to a Lincoln dealer as the Tbird is basically a Lincoln LS and very foreign to most Ford mechanics.

I just heard from the LM dealer- 4 replaced no charge so that makes all 8 replaced in the last 10K miles. Hopefully no more issues. The LM dealer seems to know the engine that's for sure.
