Most items are packed waiting to be loaded first thing in the morning. Hope it all fits. Looking at what Sharon is packing I'm not sure. Will be leaving by 6:00 AM if not earlier. Will be 10 hours of driving tomorrow. See ya in Fremont

Re: Western/Southern Caravan to 55th Anniversary Event

We've made it to the western suburbs of St. Louis. Bill, Rosetta and I are staying with an old friend and Mike is in a hotel. We'll leave out in the morning to meet up with Gary in Effingham, IL - then on to Fremont.

We had nice travels today with tops down this morning, but put the them up as the temperature climbed into the mid/high 90s. Looking forward to more fun tomorrow.

See everyone in Indiana tomorrow night!

I'm in Grinnell, IA tonight at the folks. Have about a 7hr drive tomorrow, but may stop by to say Hi to the Trooper Brother in Iowa City for a bit. See you all tomorrow.

Vickie - do you mean Jerry Best? You know I have a ton of family in IC. If you do stop there - let me know! I'll let them know to keep an eye out for a certain Merlot! IC isn't all that big (but my family IS)!

We made it to the Holiday Inn and I see that Dennis & Eva Jean are here also but haven't met them yet. So far no one else has showed.

No Elle, my Brother is a State Trooper in Iowa. I stopped by the Post, it was of the only times when it was Ok to have a few Troopers looking at your car.

We are sitting here in the Holiday Inn waiting to see if the Tornado/storm activity West of us breaks up soon. The report isn't that good, but there are too many pretty birds here in the parking lot to have any bad weather. So it will pass....

Lost power for a brief period last night but storm passed quickly. Everyone arrived safely and I got to meet three new members, Dennis and Eva plus Mike. Mike did not join us for dinner so is not in the pictures. Here are a couple photos from dinner last night.

Beginning of the third day of our trip. All of us in this caravan are heading out around 10:00 I think! Making at least one stop along the way to take a tour of Michigan Motor Speedway. Then it's off to Dearborn.

Have a safe journey, looking forward to seeing everyone in a few hours. Really windy right now, wonder if the BBQ will be moved inside

Re: Western/Southern Caravan to 55th Anniversary Event

The caravan was a huge success. Gary did a great job setting up the hotel and working with Michigan International Speedway. We ended up picking up Tom Smith as we were coming into town so that put us at 9 birds from eight states (Nevada, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Minnesota, Arkansas, Florida, & Indiana).

We had a fantastic meal with a beautiful view at The Retreat at Lake George last night and found a excellent little family restaurant for lunch today.

Good traveling, good times and good food with great friends just cant be beat. It is why getting there is an event on the way to an event.
