    Re: Quik Detailer

Just wondering what kind of product "quick detailer" is? Is it a wax, polish or cleaner? Can it be used on the clear-coated surfaces? or is it for the plastic-chrome? Thus far, I've only been using a wax or polish, and dusting the cars from time to time. They don't go out in rain or snow.

      Re: Quik Detailer

I've used the Meguiar's Quick Detailer on my show cars for more than 15 years. I haven't washed a show car since I discovered the stuff. Remember to use two rags and turn the first one often. When the first one is too dirty to use, (don't use a dirty part of the rag) use the buffing rag for the first step and get a fresh one for buffing. I normally get caught in the rain at a show at least one time a year and this stuff has never let me down. It works on every exterior surface on the car, except the windows.

Purchased a bottle at noon today and will give it a try tonight. In reading the instructions it said it even worked on carpet stains. I did not like the shine that ArmorAll gave the dash.

If you wax with Zaino you can just apply the wax or you can add hardener (comes in the kit) to the wax when you apply it so that it 'bonds' to the clear coat. You have to move rather quickly with this as the hardener gets harder to work with the longer it is exposed to air.

The Detailer is then applied to the waxed surface to remove dust and soil that may accumulate after waxing or just from being driven, as there is lots of rubber dust that collects on roads. It is specially formulated so that it will not scratch the surface of the car and it too, has a bonding agent that bonds to the wax. It enhances the gloss and deepens the color.

The Zaino Z-6 detailer has an ultra guard sunscreen mixed in that provides SP-40 sunscreen protection to keep the color from fading in direct ultraviolet from the sun. Since I have a metallic gold finish (Bronze), it is subject to fading and I want that protection. The Detailer also contains an antistatic mixture that actually repels dust. Waxing a car actually adds a surface that attracts dust, so applying the Detailer neutralizes that problem.

I very rarely wash my car. I do have a habit of wiping it down about every other day with the Zaino Z-6 Detailer (it only takes an ounce to do the entire car), and, as pointed out, once the cloth gets dirty it is time to toss it in the laundry basket and get out a clean cloth to complete the wiping down.

My wife says I am anal.... she is probably right about the Thunderbird and my motorcycles.

I wouldn't use Armorall on a dog leash! That stuff sucks the life out of anything it touches!

OK, I'm done, now. Back to topic.

Are Y'all finding the 32 oz bottle of Meguiar's Quick Detailer on the regular shelf (with the others) or on a special display?
The WalMart I shopped today didn't have any of that size.

I did pick up a bottle of Turtle ICE Total Interior Care.

I picked up 2 bottles 2 days ago and they were on a end-of-isle display with a big $5 above it. Still had about 15 bottles when I left. I think I will go back and pick up a few more.

                      Re: Quik Detailer

I am a Zaino nut just like Rick. But I did discover another detailer from Zaino called "Grand Finale Spray Seal" - works great and is similar to Z6. It is not cheap in price but I like the results. In the past year, when it's time for a Zaino polish, I now use Z CS (Clear Seal) which you just apply a section at a time and leave it to dry - no buffing. Amazing product. It's called a "synthetic protectant".

I like the ultimate Meguiars detailer better than the regular version.

A thank you to Ed and Rick for explaining the product and procedure. Sounds like I'm gonna be heading off to auto-zone this aft. This detailing procedure also sounds habit-forming. Forget the sale, I just can't wait to try the product!

I agree wholeheartedly with bronzebird and 02bluebird about Zaino products, especially their versions of Quik Detailer, Z-6 and Z-8 Grand Finale. I use Z-5, Z-2 and, like bluebird, Z-8 Grand Finale. Their Clear Seal is excellent!
