  • Packing the T bird

Ok, folks, this is the first trip for us and Buttercup. Any hints on packing her? And what we shouldn't forget.
We are looking forward to meeting everyone!
    See you tomorrow!

Soft-sided luggage (duffle bags) and clean underwear.

Hmmmm-have fun! I use the vacuum bags they show on TV-that way I can fit a lot into a small space.

Other than that, I can't help ya out-sorry!

So where are ya headed, anyway?

Guess it doesn't matter-any trip in a Bird is a good one! FYI-I'm straight west of ya!!!

I'm sure you'll see lots of folks with the new trunk racks loaded up heading for the 55th in Dearborn. Might want to take a rain coat too. Leroy

I'm not sure I'd go this way but I remember that some folks proposed not using luggage at all. Use your trunk as the suitcase!

For me, soft-sided has worked great. Cushions all the bottles of expensive liquids that we seem to accumulate on trips.

We used soft luggage and spent 10 days Detroit to Washington DC to Asseteague Island to Cape May NJ and home again. We try to travel light. I also liked the suggestion of space bags. May try that next time!

                    Re: Packing the T bird

Use soft side bags and a few at that. You can also use the wheel well to pack things in to. For the MOST important things, shoes....I usually just fit them in to the small spaces that are available around the bags!!! This is an ART Laurel!! You will get better and better at it as time goes on!!! Jerry and I went from CA to Michigan for a TBN event and we were gone 6 weeks!!!

It is quite a challenge to pack and unpack the car every day!!! Our FRIENDS were taking pics of our trunk as we were leaving!!! Oh, if you happen to buy something there that won't fit in the car.....UPS is a great help!!!!

You can't believe the relief when the trunk closes on the first try!!!

Have a wonderful time. Sorry we are missing this trip!!! You will be hooked after this!!

Good Luck on packing!!! Safe travels!!

In a pinch if you have the soft-top up, the space where the top goes down can be used as temporary storage...keeping in mind if you forget about you you risk crushing your items and ruining your top!

Yes, you can use the soft-top well for light things such as coats, hats, and small purchases, etc. It works very well for those items.

But, don't do as someone who shall remain nameless did on one TBN trip, and drop the soft-top into the well while it was full of items, just because it was nice day out and everyone was cruising. It's a wonder she didn't break the rear window glass in the soft-top, and rip out the cloth bottom of the well.

My only suggestion is to pack your bag than open it and remove 1/2 of what's in it as you won't use it any way and before packing the trunk CHECK THE SPARE TIRE
