Did you say "Lady Shopping" is a big part of the trip? Oh, just for Steve Legel!

At Target "Speedy Space Maker" bags are perfect for getting a lot of clothes in a small space like a Tbird's trunk. You fill 'em up, open them a little bit, sit on 'em. then close 'em. We used them on our cross country trip last year.

I have "space bags" also I use them when traveling on a vacation .If I'm correct there the ones you vacum down, when open they expand. Now when returning you have to have access to a vacum to reduce them down.No vacum same amount of bulk. On one trip I cleaned out my clothes, took them with me and threw them out as I traveled, you can always buy more

If you're on the road for an extended length of time ship your "Dirty laundry" home. It will free up a lot of space.

Soft side bags as everyone else has said. Cille puts her cosmetics into small bags that fit into the cavity in the front of the trunk. Shoes, water bottles, etc. fit into small places. We pack the shirts, slacks, blazers, into a thin hanging bag which lies flat on the top of the soft side bags and as far forward as possible. My camera stuff and laptop fit into a soft knapsack bag that just fits in about 2/3 of the shelf in front of the speakers. The other part of that shelf is for purses. Using a GPS eliminates the need for maps. While driving we put stuff in the cavity below the rear window including the sunshade. ALWAYS remember it is there--if you want to drop the top, that cavity needs to be empty. We can go for a week this way--then you need to find a laundry.

Obviously, purchases are small or shipped home directly.

Leave all suitcases at home. Gene & I spent almost 3 weeks in 2002 Leaving Palm Springs area 8-5-2002 Did Wixmon tour 8-12-2002, met Dan & Joanne Campau, Helen & Joy, Lon & Shirley in a Texas, our now life long friends and lots of other T-Birders. Did route 66 from Chiago to VTCI International Convention in Costa Mesa Ca. Then home to Palm Desert. on 8-26-2002. Just lay your clothes in the trunk on hangers, lose things in the nooks and crannies. Pick out what you will need in the morning and carry it in to the motel. We even took our feather pillows. Just close the trunk easy. It was a blast. 1 of many we enjoyed after that 1st trip. Karen (TWEETIE)
