  • TRUNK HEAT

For all the retro birds out in the realm.
    Returning from Dearborn.
We traveled from Nashville to Austin Texas and just got in at 7 PM today. My question is this: All our items in trunk were as hot as HE##. Temp in trunk must be + 150. Water in bottles almost boiled. Nothing different than regular. Towel in wheel well with spare no extras except clothes. Has any one had this experience?
This was our first long trip with either of our birds.
    Thanks for your help

I would think so with dual mufflers at each side and the sun baking down on that lid.

Yep, it gets mighty hot in the trunk, Dennis. I have noticed it a little in the past but it seemed especially hot this time. Wonder if the Borla's somehow add to the heat?

While I didn't have a problem with them, I must say I was a little worried about the carbonated beverages that I had in the trunk. What a mes that would be if one of them blew-up.

Nice to meet you and Eva Jean. We'll see you in Texas next spring!

....not a lot of volume in there! so lots of heat build up.......And the mufflers are close by....wait 'til the engine heat fogs your headlight lenses....$500.00cdn for the left and $400.00 cdn for the right, to replace...with no explanation for the difference....go figure....

Welcome to Austin! It's just that time of year and it doesn't matter much whether it is in the trunk or the passenger compartment, things are going to heat up.

Probably a good way to make smores at the next event.

Probably gets above the "warning" on aerosol cans on a routine basis no matter what the color of the car. I know from experience around here in the summer it's hot enough to melt the glue that holds the individual pieces together in a Canon AE-1 lens (it's a long story).

SO you would buy something to keep it cool in there? That is, if something existed?

                    Re: TRUNK HEAT

I have had a spray can of window cleaner leak in my cleaning supplies bag in my trunk before.

In Dearborn someone told me, Sorry for not remembering who, (met so many there for the first time), that they put some pop cans in where the tire is and one exploded making a mess...

I was the one that had a pop can explode on the way to Dearborn, two others were deformed. I have my spare turned over to provide extra storage, but that is the 1st time I have put pop in the spare tire well.

I remember that a member had a bottle of wine break in thier trunk at Lake Lanier....but, I don't remember if it was heat related.

Talk about a smelly trunk liner! I think they washed it as best they could in the shower.

Sort of explains the need for a vented battery. Leroy
