Also noticed that the car has no skirts which was an option of course. For '66 it was the first time for wheel well trim (SS) and with no skirts, the trim was put in the wheel well. Very hard to find today. Usually , but rarely, they were omited when the option 'deluxe wheel covers' were ordered which you have to give it a more sporty look.
Not sure if you are aware but the "factory invoice" is still available for that car if the previous owner has not already ordered it. Also, under the back seat or the backs of the back seat, you will find the ROT sheet (unless mice got in there to nest) which was what they used back in the day on the assembly line. It shows how the car came down the line and with what options. Also has the VIN that will match the car data plate and factory invoice.
Enjoy the trip, wish I could follow with our '66.

Speaking from experience going across the country with a '65 convertible...don't forget duct tape and WD-40!
Good Luck. Wish I was going.

Duct tape? What is that for?

As for the options and invoice, I know it is available. I was hoping to find the ROT sheet once I get the car home. I know about the wheel well trim, and frankly, I like the car better without the skirts. It's also easier to clean the ww tires.

I think it also has a power antenna, but I'm not sure about that yet. It does not have a power seat nor the power head rest for the passenger. Also missing is cruise control. I'll miss that one.

I wasn't sure where to look, but you cleared that up for me, thanks for the info.

David, the way you drive you don't need the cruise control, just take along a brick!

From the pictures, it looks like a power antenna which is nice if you have a car cover. No recliner passenger seat so you can put in a nice tonneau cover on to make it a two seater and lots of room for luggage on the back seat, out of sight, when traveling. As for cruise control, by '66 it still was not very good and reliable, and not many cars of that era have 'working' cruise in original condition.

Spence: If I get my hands on a brick, I'd be too tempted to toss it through your new windshield. BAD IDEA!

As for the rear tonneau, we really like the look of the car with the back seat exposed. The interior may be one of the best looking designs of the era.

Have friends in Grand Junction and have made the drive over I-70 a few times. Lots of fun driving the T-bird fast through De Beque Canyon.
Make sure the brakes are in good working order.
I-70 through Colorado has some long downhill stretches.

David, That's OK, then I will have possession of the Brick!! Need I say more?

Anyway: On your trip home may your generator stay in one piece, may your points not need replaced and may your carburetor not get gummed up and stop working. Have a safe drive back.

In case one of the engine hoses break, duct tape is great for a quick temporary fix.
Congratulations on the fun car, have a safe drive back home.

I agree, don't care for the tonneau either. All the best of luck with your new Bird.

What a great looking car David. I have a frind who has a red 66 hard top and converted it more to a resto mod. Good luck getting home with it, this should bring about some good stories and some good pictures along the way.

Hey David, you could do a slight "great circle" route and color in two more states to your map ... NE & IA. But I must say that your view wouldn't be any different than driving through KS. With apologies to some of my Big 12/10 friends, not a lot to see there unless you're in Memorial Stadium on a football Saturday!
