Frits is getting the 76 TBird, not the 66 Tbird! I think Frits has a mental block about that. The 66 is staying in Nashville....

      David,
My question is: Have you logged your first 1,000 miles without trouble?

I was driving back from Manhattan KS to Kansas City on I-70 after moving kids' college stuff. I kept hoping I'd get a look at David's new/old Bird. No luck ... hope his drive is going well as it was 100 out there today. Not a friendly day to pack a U-Haul!

            THIS IS ALL ROGER'S FAULT!!!!

Well, the saga didn't quite go as planned. First when I got to Colorado on Thursday, the car was sill in the shop. UPS had lost the shipment with lower ball joints and they weren't going to deliver them until Friday. I waited all day friday and finally at 3:30 I was able to drive it out of the alignment shop and get underway.

About 150 miles later, the car started sputtering. I got to a gas station with a mechanic and the car died just as I arrived. Fortunately he was great and we narrowed the problem down to the fuel filter, (which was changed just before I got the car). We cleaned the bowl, put in a new filter and off I went again.

About 40 miles later ... same thing. I had not realized the car had sat since '98 and was only driven arond the block "a few times" since then. So, I believe the gas tank is corrupted and thus sending dirt into the line as the pressure builds. I got the car to another shop where is is sitting now.

I took a shuttle to Denver and flew home last night. I will have the car shipped. Of course I should have done that in the first place, but I was really up for an adventure. I sure got that in spades!!

Lesson learned. When it gets here, I will replace the gas tank, or at the very least flush it out. Other than that, it is a nice car. It certainly needs some TLC and a good cleaning, but everything seems to work, other than 1 rear window, which I think is a bad switch.

When it ran, it was a great ride. That part of the country is gorgeous. The weather was in the high 90's to about 102 during the day and about 65 in the evenings.

Roger, Up your offer to 600. I think he'll snap that up in a New York minute. Remember, you did save on the price of a bus ticket.

David , Sorry it did not goooooooooo well. I had a group of five Tbirders all ready to help you celebrate and honor you and Jeannies new bird, when you arrived here in KC.
Had new sheets on the bed, new shower curtain installed and Toni made allllllll kinds of breakfast rolls for you to eat the next morning. Welllll we allllllll went out to dinner
last nite anyway and then went to a local car show cruise in, with our birds afterwards.
and had ice cream while everyone flocked around our cars to look. I saved an empty spot by my car for jeannies new bird where it was suppose to be. Oh welllll
get the birds stomach cleaned out and we will do it again sometime.
Darn, now I will have to eat alllllllll those rolls. Bunny Lou

David, Sorry your drive out didn't work. It would have been a awesome drive, I was jealous. Wanted to get my own ticket out to Grand Junction and make the ride with you. All will be fine once you get the car home. Enjoy. Can't wait to see it in person, looking forward to more pics when you get the chance.

                            David,
Really very sorry you had so much trouble in such a short time. I really would like to help out and am taking Spence's suggestion and offering $800 to just let me take it off your hands and scrap it out for parts. Cannot pick up your plane fare back to Nashville since my original offer was for Greyhound ticket. To make things easy just have the transport carrier drop the car here in New Orleans and it will be out of your hair.
