OK , I'm down to just the lights staying on when I'm driving. (all the dash lights ALL OF THEM).
I noticed the other day some thing I haven't noticed before and I am just wandering . When the ignition key is in the switch , It can be put into the switch and pulled out at the 10 oclock position instead of the 12 oclock position. And I have no acc.position. Or am I living in the old days of insert key at the 12 oclock position
turn key to the left at 10 oclock for acces.
and turn key to the right at about 2 oclock to start motor ....

If you have a owners manual, all of the ignition switch positions are identified and shown in the owners manual.

Mark, it sounds like your switch has been turned counter clock wise. It may be loose. The key should go in and out at the 12:00 position only. The ACC position is one click to the right at approx. 1:00.

Not to be argumentative, but modern cars do not have an ACC position. ACC was used to provide power for accessories without providing power to the ignition system - saved the points from burning. We have OFF, ON, START.

can you remove the key from the ignition when it is in position #2 as per the owners guide, page 125 , driving section ???
Our's(key ) can't be taken out of ignition when in position #2. Just want to know if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

              Thanks everybody

You can only remove the key from the lock position. It also locks the steering column and the gear lever.

Aren't Owners Manuals wonderful if everybody read them. Owners would have a wealth of knowledge about the retro ThunderBird in that little manual, if it was only read. 'nuff said.........

I drove Amadeus to our church league softball game a week ago...parked on the first row outside of the outfield fence and watched the game with the top down (much nicer seat than the aluminum bleachers at the rec field).......thumbed thru the owner's manual for the first time since I took delivery in Nov of 2001.

Which is why, after taking delivery of Goldilocks back in May of '05, I didn't drive her at all for 2 days until I had read through the manual.

Elle, Real men don't need a book. If we can't figure it out on our own then it ain't worth knowing.
