'66 Squarebird in Emberglo

    '66 Squarebird in Emberglo

    Entered Bronzebird in an all Ford show in McDonough, Ga yesterday and saw some interesting Fords. Also met two recent T-Bird owners, both females. One had just acquired a PCR and the other had a Bronze w/ Sand interior just like mine. Neither had their cars there but I introduced them to Thunderbird Nest and encouraged them to log on and look around.

    There were seven Thunderbirds there and that included a '66 Squarebird in a color called 'Emberglo'. I had never heard of this color but it looks close to the Bronze I once saw on a '57.

        EMBERGLO WAS ALSO A BIG MUSTANG COLOR. MANY HAD THE EMBERGLO PONY INTERIOR.

          My Dad bought a new 2 Door Galaxy back in 1966 and that was the color of his. He kept that car until he retired in 1981 and moved down here to Sebring.

              Emberglow first came on the '65 Special Edition Thunderbird (tenth aniversary). There were 4500 Special Editions built . A few were painted Wimbledon white. In '66 it was used on other model Fords as well as the '66 Bird.

                  YOU WERE LUCKY, MY DAD ALWAYS HAD STATION WAGONS. ALTHOUGH HE DID BUY A 1965 PLYMOUTH FURY CONVERTIBLE INDY PACE CAR REPLICA, BUT THEN TRADED IN THREE MONTHS FOR A "STATION WAGON".

                    Not so lucky!! I was 17 at the time and when he drove it in the drivway first thing I said is "That looks like it is already rusted and it's ugly" His responce was, then you don't have to drive it. I never did get to drive that car.

                        At the time I had my 57 Buick Convertible that I painted British Racing Green with a new white top so I didn't really care. Dad and I didn't get along too good back in those days.

                            Hi Rick, it was great travelling with you to Ottawa Spring Bling in May. Great car you have, Marj really liked the color combination.

                            BTW the 64 thru 66 Thunderbirds were Flairbirds. Generally speaking Squarebirds were the 58 thru 60 models.

                              The '66 'emberglow' Town Landau that you show Gord was also at Dearborn 55. (Dan Johnson's car) As a matter of fact, there were two of them there. Not sure if the other was a Landau or just a Town H'top. It was gone when I went to take a picture of it.

                              Also, a 'national geographic' advertisement of the the '65 Special Edition 'emberglow Landau which was the first time Ford used this colour on any of it's cars.
