  • Road Trip Washington St. To Ohio

I got a long road trip coming up from Washington ST. To Cleveland, Ohio.
Passing through Burely, ID; Laramie, WY; Lincoln, NE; St.Charles, MO.

Any TBN members out there along the way? Any tips or suggestions for a little sight seeing?

Any one want to meet up for lunch, dinner?

Haven't planned trip back to Washington yet?
    Mike

I have a whole lot of relatives in St Charles - I'll tell them to be on the lookout for your Bird!

There is so much to see on that trip it';s almost too hard to describe. However, the black hills of SD and perhaps the badlands in SD should be on your list.

      Also, you shouldn't miss Yellowstone.

Elli--- KSU & Kent itself is on my list especialy after seeing the photos you sent.

DavidA--- Thanks for the tips. Living where we do we are often in Yellowstone. We also have been through the beautiful breathtaking Dakotas. That is why this trip we plan to be a little further south & get into ST. Louis.

John--- meeting up with you has been on the top of my list for sometime. I am going to honestly try to catch up with you.

            Mike,

Does your trip bring you through Illinois? If so, maybe we'll be able to hook up. Let me know.

OK. then drop down to Grand Junction, CO and drive hwy 50. You can actually take it all the way east. It Through CO, you can hit Vale, and other "hot spots", but hwy 50 in itself is a tour.
Dodge City is a great stop. Make sure you ask where this place is .. This guy made mobiles and plastered his rants all along the highway. It is just outside Dodge.

Mike - I am in Omaha and would love to meet up with you. Let me know if you need a place to stay.

As for things to see along I80. If you drop down to Salt Lake City, you could go see the LDS Square downtown and the tabernacle. And Antelope Island is North of town a bit, large herd of Buffalo. Then outside of town on your way to Laramie, stop at Park City to see the Olympic downhill and tourist stop. You could ride on a lugge if you are daring. And go to the downtown area to see where Sundance happens. Lots of neat shops and resturants there.

Around Laramie is the Lincoln Highway monument (big bust of Lincoln overlooking the interstate. I took pics of Saffron along this route.

In Nebraska there is the arch over the interstate in Kearney, you go through the travels of 150 years across America. Nothing fantastic, but is a nice place to stretch your legs.

On the East of Lincoln is the Strategic Air and Space Museum, very nice exhibit of lots of planes and such.

In Iowa, there are casino boats in Council Bluffs.

A bit off of I80 you can drop down to Winterset to see John Wayne's birthplace and the bridges of Madison County. If you have the time, I would recommend this.

Closer to Iowa City is the Amana Colonies, you could go through the villages or just stop at one of the I80 eateries.

Also close to Iowa City is Williamsburg outlet Mall, for some bargan shopping.

Can you tell that I've made that trip a bunch of times.
