  • Extending the Extended Warranty

I have a 2003 with 47,000 miles. I bought it new and got the 7 year 75,000 mile premium CARE warranty for $2,000 new. That warranty will be done in 2 months.
I have only had the car in twice for some small jobs with the EXT warranty that may have a total of $1000 for repiars.

The Ford dealer quoted me 2 addition Ford Premium Care warranty:
one for 3 years 36,000 additional miles for $1,785.00
one for 4 years 48,000 additional miles for $2,090.00

That includes that dealer's $300 VIP discount that ends at the end of the month.

I will be checking the prices at other dealers.
If I go for the 4 year warranty that will mean I have a total warranty for 11 years and 95,000 miles.

The origanal Ford Extended warranty was for 4 years and it cost me $2,000 when new. So the additional 4/48 for $2,000 seems like a good gamble.

What have you seen for prices on the longer Ford warranty?

    what say you?

    Thanks for the info.

Check with Lou, his price is certainly competitive with the 4yr/48K premium ESP; I ended up using his policy. I'll be interested with what you end up doing; good luck!

      Barry,

Check out this thread regarding an extended ESP warranty and get in touch with Lou.

      http://www.thunderbirdnest.com/forum...ad.php?t=28829

He'll definitely be able to beat your dealer's price and in fact will be the best price you can find anywhere. Some may get close but I don't believe anyone wiil beat it.

        Barry,
Check with Lou. I know he will beat the 4 year warranty by a few hundred. I have an 03 and he recommended I go with the 3 year plan and then at the 10 year mark go with a 4 year/48K plan.

I expect to be faxing him my inspection report tomorrow and go with the 3 year plan for now and then at the 10 year mark go for the 48 mo/48K miles warranty.

Birdlover, Thanks for the info. So what you're saying is to get the maximim warranty after the car reaches it's 10 year mark, only extend the warranty till it expires just before the ten year mark and then extend it to the max at that time. This is the way I plan to go with my 04 and then sell it when I can no longer have it covered under the Ford warranty. Leroy

                    Barry:

Call me at my office on Tuesday. The $2,000 they are asking is a gouge, DON'T do it! Both the 3 and 4 year they quoted you is much higher than I can do for TBN members for Ford's Premium Care ESP. Call me asap.

                      Re: Extending the Extended Warranty

I applied to a local dealer a few months ago when Lou was grounded. We did speak at the time and he gave me some excellent advice. However, I have not received anything in the mail from Ford. How long should I expect to wait for the actual policy?

Bob, I thought you would get the actual policy thru your selling dealer at the time you paid for it?

                            THANKS LOU !!

My local Ford dealer was ready to take my money and sell me a 48 month Premium Plan. They were even willing to match the best price I could find! Had I gone with them, my '03 would be under warranty until 2014 at which time it would be 11 years old and I would not be able to buy another extended warranty. Ford will not sell an extended warranty on a vehicle over 10 years old.

THANKS LOU for suggesting I do 3 years now and then in 2013 go for the 4 year plan giving me coverage until the car is 14 years old. I'm another of Lou's happy customers!
