I've narrowed down the tire choices to Continental Extreme Contact DWS and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. My criteria is: all season, tread wear, handling in wet conditions, and quietness/comfort. The tread wear on the Conti is 540 and the Michelin 500. My Ford dealer comes close to Tire Rack price and there's a $100 off until the end of the month on the Continentals. The Michelins are about $200 more at the dealer, but are said to be the best for ride. Any suggestions? Thanks for the input.

Re: tire question
Michelins for sure. I got 70K with my first set and they are quiet!Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

Re: tire question
Cannot comment on the Continental but I love my Mitchelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Currently have a second set on my wifes Lexus, ran a set on a Maxima before I sold it and recently installed a set of on my bird. They perform well in wet or dry conditions but are no better than any street tire in the snow.
However, as a performance tire, they are not super high milage tire. I am not sure how DavidA got 70K out of his. Best I could do was in upper 40K range.Never grow up. Enjoy life while you can

Re: tire question
Sorry to go against my good friends. But....I have moved to a Continental ExtremeContact and I think they are great. They are NOT the typical Continental tire. I spent six months and many, many hours reading everything written, both in the US and in Europe about the ExtremeContact and could not find one bad professional industry review.
They are more quiet, corner better, have an excellent mileage warranty and have a much better ride than my original Michelins.
I thought I loved my Michelins but NOT after putting two thousand miles on these tires.
Have a couple pictures of the mounted ExtremeContacts in my gallery.
OK, so now all my Michelin friends can start ......

Re: tire question
That is what my Goodyear Eagle GT's are also but I don't need to worry about the mileage part of it any longer. It's now a garage queen except for going to TBN events. I did look at those Michelin's but price was just too high. If price was no object I might have gone with them. They are Here. Scotty, beam me up!IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHEREVisit the TBN Store

Re: tire question
The Pilot Sport AS Plus are not the same tire as the originals that Ford put on the Birds. The original Pilot Sport are not made any more & have not been made since late 2008 early 2009.
I have the Pilot Sport AS Plus on my 05 Bird since late September 09. Today 19K miles later they are just as quiet smooth ride as when they were new. Very good purchase. I run them at 33 psi.Mike

Re: tire question
I had my tires changed to Michelin Sport A S Plus also. They are W rated and have an extra rib that is said to protect the chrome wheel. Three types of rubber are used to increase traction in bad weather. They run quiet and look awesome. I have had them on for three months and I am impressed.

Re: tire question
My car's OEM Mich tires got 42,000 mile and that was to the wear bars.
put on a set of Falkens 970 that I got for $105 each. car rides very good. No rain here, and no curves that would count.
My BMW is for the curves, it only has two tires.
