A couple, if not more, members have replace the stock Thunderbird suspension with the Lincoln LS Sport suspension and love the difference.

So generous of you! I have enough metal in my leg to build a bike, so two wheels are out for me!

            Re: tire question

Don't ya just love it how virtually every thread takes a turn, or two, or three... We start out discussing tires and now the discussion is about making bikes out of scrap metal in one's leg.

Well, it could REALLY have been an appalling reply! Fun group.

Your dealer can price match tire rack. Just print the tire rack price (including freight) and take it in. Ford runs a price match plus $1 program. It doesn't come out of your dealers pocket either, Ford funds the program. And yes you still get the rebate. Makes a good deal.

                  Re: tire question

Thanks to all for their input, especially since XCR440SP (do you have any idea how difficult that is after a few drinks?!) mentioned dealer matching, it really comes down to directional vs tires that can be normally rotated (no jokes here!). Snow is not an issue here more than a few days a year, but rain on the highway is, which is a good part of the reasoning for the two tires mentioned -I've seen cars go sideways like they were on ball bearings; scary stuff. It appears to be a toss-up, both being quite good. I have some time yet to decide, but am appreciative of the generous help from you.

                    I second that thought.

Unfortunately I picked up a nail in the crown area of a left rear tire 2 weeks ago on the '04 so a pair of OEM Michelins found their way onto the car. I got 'em for $195 a piece at a VIP outlet here in New Hampshire. Took a lot of phone calls to find someone who'd sell 'em under $200.

This is upsetting because I had many good miles left in the tires on the car so I couldn't justify changing all 4.

My wife's '02 got a full set of Goodyear GTs last summer.

All I can say is....... WOW!!!.....do I love these tires.

Will they last and wear like the Michelins?
                    Only time will tell.

                    Quiet?
They are for now anyway but in all honesty I had a set on a 96 Camaro years ago that got louder over time as they wore but it wasn't obnoxious.

For me, and why I like 'em so much, is found in two thoughts.

The Z rated performance tire is a little wider and provides GRIP the Michelin can't compete with. The confident feeling this inspires on dry pavement is worth it alone but when you realize these tires can be had for approximately $150 a piece they are easily my favorite choice for these cars out of what was available.

Truth is I felt painted into a corner on the Michelins for the '04.......it's the only reason I picked up a pair recently. They are good tires.......but they were NOT my first choice.
