    DOT, A MOTOR CONVOY TRUCK LEAVING WIXOM COULD HAVE HAD A FULL LOAD OF THUNDERBIRDS, UNLESS THERE WAS SOME LIMITATIONS ON THE TRUCK AND TRAILER FOR MIX PURPOSES. AFTER THEY WERE ON THE TRAIN, THEY WERE MIXED WITH EVERYTHING OUT OF WIXOM AND EVERYTHING FROM FORD AT THE RAILHEADS.

      This is a picture from "ThunderIsle" back in 2004. The caption under the picture in the events gallery states that this pic contains all the colors produced up to that time.

          ThunderIsle was held in May 2004. The Ice Blue edition came out in the Spring of 2004, so more than likely there was not an IB at the event. Didn't mean to mislead anybody.

            THE ICE BLUE CAME WITH THE PCR, AND I SEE ONE OF THEM. THEY REPLACED THE VMG IN DEC. 2003

                The first Thunderbirds to come out of Wixom were the '58 models. (Thunderbirds and Lincolns just like in the end)

                  ok, I think we're all getting confused some here.

                  Sixpac, you were correct. There was supposed to be an ice blue at Thunder Isle but it didn't make it to the May 04 event. There are only 13 colors represented in that photo.

                  Ron, The Ice Blue was a mid- spring 04 introduction. They didn't start showing up at dealers until late April 2004 -- however, I think there was a dealer in Florida that may have gotten in a couple similar to the two early releases of the Inca Gold color - kind of test shots before production of the ice blue started. The regular production of the Ice Blue didn't start until the PCRs were finished in March/April, 04. (another question that quickdraw could give a definite answer to - when did onare start and the other end?...)
                  ps. Ron, there is no ice blue in that photo of 13 cars. DSB and T-bird blue are the only blues in that photo.

                  Now to get to Lindy's question. I misread his question at first and thought he was talking about Ron's avatar. I do have a photo on my site taken by Steve Legel of retros on carriers but the shot was not real good. I think there are two carriers in that photo.



                  Now my first answer to Lindy does bring up something we haven't done at an event with multiple colors - ie line up the colors by their year.

                    I NOTICED THE ICE BLUE AND PCR WERE IN THE SALES BROCHURE AT THE SAME TIME AND I THOUGHT THEY WERE AVAILABLE AT THE SAME TIME. THAT IS THE ONE WITH THE VMG GONE.

                      The brochure with the ice blue in it was printed in March 2004 in anticipation of getting customer orders for the color. There is an earlier brochure without either the PCR nor the ice blue.

                        THAT EARLIER ONE HAS THE VMG AND DOES NOT SAY THE MERLOT IS A ONE YEAR COLOR. MY SPECIAL CARD ON THE PCR IS DATED 2003, SO I THOUGHT THEY CAME AT THE SAME TIME.

                                I AM AWAY FROM THE CARS, BUT MEMORY IS THAT THE 02 IS SMOOTH OR PLAIN AND THE 05 HAS A SLIGHT DOT PATTERN.
