Noticed that, but I assumed he wasn't asking if the part served any porpoise ... although that would have changed my answer to "no".

That was previously answered, see post 13.

Please excuse my typo, I'll try to be more careful in the future. I was not trying to be a wise guy, I was merely asking if the lens covers enhanced the tail lights in any way. I'm also not in favor of any plastic stick on stuff, but if you want to pay the price for the stuff and you think it's makeing your car look better, then go for it. Leroy

There's nothing wrong with your typo to require an apology, it was perfectly obvious from context what you were asking. Since the tail lights are already plastic, you are only replacing it with another form. I think the main objection, other than those who don't care for the extra bling, is the less than exact fit. Either you like them, or you don't, it's purely a personal choice.

I can't help but agree with Islandtime. They look like exactly what they are, after-market add ons that do not fit properly. Visually they might appear okay from a distance but run your hand down the very smooth curved designed body of the Bird and you feel the ill fitting edge.

It is also similar to the stainless steel stick on hood scoop, not good compared to the Ford part.
Hi Mike- Looking forward to meeting you at a PNW cruise in the spring. When you see my bird for the first time make sure you tell me how much you like all of my stick on bling(Hood scoop, tail light bezels, v8 emblems, etc.) Just kidding. I got real excited to add stuff when I first got the car and none of it has fallen off yet. LOL Would probably do things differently now that I've had the car for a while. A little less stick on,. a little more original equipment!! Til Spring- Tim

Tim - if you're not all that enthralled with something, you can always remove it! It's real simple...and it won't hurt your Bird!

Bottom line...love your Bird...do what you want...enjoy it, and above all...DRIVE IT!

                      Timothy,
                      You can count on it!
If you can't tolerate the feedback don't ask for it.
If you check my gallery you will see I have added some items to my Bird as well. I never said I didn't add anything to the Bird. I never said one shouldn't. It is your car do what you wish.

I think bottom line is the thickness of the tape equals the same distance the covers stick up, about a 16th in. very poor planning on the manufactuers part

                            Re: Tail light rims question

There's no tape on the top of the chrome lens it's on the flat part of the lens or verticle section .That's the way mine were. The stock lens is flat to the fender so it's the thickness of the chrome lense you see or feel.

and therein lies the problem!! The ABS Plastic IS the problem. For this to be a "proper" fitting piece, it NEEDS to be Stainless. IMHO

I guess I thought that if the tape wasn't where it is ,the cover would move in closer to the lens.
