  • Anyone Know How To Trick Door Closed?

Anyone know how to fool or trick the computer to think the doors are closed when they are not?

I need to realign the windows due to a leak. The manual instructs to have the door open and the window all the way up, not in the window drop position. To do this the computer needs to think the door is closed, allowing the window to drive all the way up.

    Anyone done this adjustment?

So how do I fool the computer? Where is the latch or switch? Inside the door? Is it mechanical or electrical or magnetic?

I've included the article by Ford for adjusting the window to prevent the leak, maybe someone else has the same leaking window.

I think you are following directions for WCS (worse case senario). Check your Owner's Manual for the KISS version. As I recall, you sit in the vehicle with the door closed (and roof on or up) and just raise and lower the window a couple of times. Someone will join in in a minute with the technical version of KISS and an admonition to search.

    Good luck!

To reset the window, have the roof up, close the door and run the window all the way down and HOLD THE BUTTON IN THE DOWN POSITION FOR 10 SECONDS.

Then run it up and again, HOLD THE BUTTON IN THE UP POSITION FOR 10 SECONDS.

That should set the auto drop and the fit when the glass is run up.

If you haven't yet, try the process David mentioned first.

I had the process you are referring to (in the attachment document) completed at the factory when I brought it back, however my leak was only the hardtop. They ended up giving me another hardtop however nothing they did stopped the leak completely.

If you're asking about this step:

"Raise the roof. Open the affected door and
command the system to roll the glass up
with the short-drop feature. This is done by
        manually tripping the door latch."

With the door open, simply use your key or a screw driver and push the door latch (in the door) all the way in. Halfway won't activate it but all the way will. Your door will think it is closed and the window will move up. DO NOT SLAM YOUR DOOR CLOSED WITHOUT MOVING THE LATCH BACK!!! To undo the latch, while lifting up on the outer door handle slide the latch back to the open position.

Is your leak mainly on the drivers side where the rubber on the top attaches to the rubber on the car near the pillar?

Thanks, but you forgot the search part.

Re: Anyone Know How To Trick Door Closed?

Sealy your process is correct to reset the auto drop on the window but my problem is that when the door is closed & the window is all the way up it is still not up sealed into the weather strip. This is because the window is not mechanically in the correct position on the window regulator inside the door. The regulator is adjustable up down only about a 1/2 inch but if the window is mounted too low, when it goes up all the way when the door is closed it will not seal tight. Water & wind leaks.

Brad Thanks for the door latch tip.
what you have told me is what I thought but I wanted confirmation from someone like yourself who knew for certain. Thanks

Is your leak by the meeting point of the windshield pillar and the hard top?

If so, check to see that the rubber gasket of the hard top is properly placed around the windshield pillar. If not it will allow water inside the car!

I have had that problem before and now always check my gasket placement on both sides when I put the hard top on.

                Iceblue,
No the leak is further back about where the straight top of the glass begins its downward sloop toward the front leading edge of the window.
