      Re: Gas Mileage

I can get 30 mpg on my Retro.....but then again, I measure everything in Imperial Gallons (20% larger than a U.S. gallon).

I am taking her out today for a long run before putting her to bed for the winter. Just for fun, I plan to drive 60 mph just to see what she really is capable of. Lets call it an economy run, just hope I don't get run over on the freeway! So many idiots out there!

I took a little trip last weekend with my 2008 Ford Edge AWD, maintained 60 mph and the computer says I was getting 29 mpg (us gallons) as opposed to doing 70 - 75 mph and getting 19 mpg. Quite a difference.

Jon, Several years ago, out your way, an outfit called Monster Motors installed 5.0 HO Ford engines in Miatas. They ran like SB Cobras and handled better with suspension upgradge. If you watch Speed Channel, the host of Gears TV on Saturday mornings has one he built himself. You should have had a V8. To stay on subject, I seem to be getting into the 20s when I keep my foot out of it.

Two years ago I was thinking of doing just that. Took a tour of the shop and went for a ride in the owners personal v8 miata. It was crazy fast !!!

BTW the Tbird gets low 20's mpg with a mix of city and highway.
All highway get about 26 mpg.

              Re: Gas Mileage

My normal on the hwy is 25 w/air, but the last trip to Fl w/out using the a/c was 27mpg as measured at the pump, so that was pretty respectable.

Took Amadeus on the trip from home (Kinston, NC) to Tallahassee (via Jacksonville) for the Carolina-Florida State football game this past weekend. Ran with the traffic, which meant mostly 65-75 mph. Averaged about 23 mpg for the trip.

                    Re: Gas Mileage

wondered why our 05 was not getting good gas mileage on our way home from Redneck Riviera. It was because I dosed off numerous times... George was driving. As soon as he saw "me" not watching the guage, he put it up to 95 (as he says to others), then he'd knock it down to 70 ... then back up, etc.... such an inconsistent driver. The tank that should have got us over 25mpg, only managed to barely get 21 and we had to stop sooner than expected for I looked over and the gas gauge was running close to empty.
I think i'm going to do more of the driving in the future.

If you can sleep in T Bird going 95 MPH you have more cool than most.

Amadeus made the trip from here to Nashville for the Carolina-Tennessee Music City Bowl.....about 1260 miles round trip. Tanks averaged 24, 26, 25....pretty pleased with that. All regular grade.......no premium fuel, and all of it had ethanol blended in.

                            Re: Gas Mileage

My last 500 mile trips averaged 27 mpg, and the last one averaged 26 mpg, all at 70mph.
With a/c the average was 26 mpg. From reading reviews I had read that some tires take a toll on mileage, but most of that is in city, not on the hwy.
