Anybody up that way know about this?

Emailed a friend that lives in the area and he sent me the following reply.---
            MartinB.

This property belongs to a friend of mine his name is Dave Pollon. Dave is a very wealthy man. He started out with absolutely nothing......he commenced his "chicken empire" by raising a few chickens in his parents backyard. To-day he has many farms, processing plants, and is truly a self made man.

I have visited his "garage" several times. It is even better in person than it is in these photographs. As you can see from the pictures, from the outside it looks just like the other chicken barns, but once inside you are totally transformed.

The first picture is taken from the back yard of their home. You can see other classics on the right hand side.....probably from some visitors, as Dave does not own either of these cars.

The second and third pictures (of the cafe) are photographs of "Rosie's Dinner".......this is very appropriate as Dave's wife's name is Rosemary!

The fourth and fifth are shots of some of the memorabilia.

The sixth is a shot of the garage, and yes, the lift works, in this picture there is not a vehicle on the lift, but often there is a car on the hoist. If you look at the back of the lift there is a closed garage door........this door leads to another room where Dave has his collection of cars parked. The last picture #11 is taken in this part of the building.....Dave bought the yellow '55 several years ago at the Barrett Jackson auction.

The seventh and eighth are pictures of the mural that is painted on the wall, the traffic light actually works!

Shots nine and ten are pictures of the false store fronts, behind the stores it is just an outside wall of the building. It is not shown in the photographs but above Rosie's Diner is a second level with more memorabilia.

If I can remember he has:-

            '55 T-Bird..yellow
            '56 T-Bird..turquoise
'57 T-Bird..blue (this car has been at our home)
'56 Nomad Station Wagon, hot rod
            '? Mustang
            '? Mustang
            '? Ford GT 40
            '? Plymouth Prowler
            '36 Ford Hot Rod
            '? Corvette
            '? Some motorcycles

There may be more but I am not sure.

Dave is a very generous man, he opens his "garage" for many functions. When Bob & Jo'Anne were visiting us we took them to see it. He hosts the Totem Thunderbird Club events there and it has been on several of the garage tours we have been on for other clubs. Dave has the ability to serve BBQ chicken to his guests, we have been to functions where they served over 150 people........done to perfection!

Dave also has a summer home close to where we live, so we visit back and forth fairly frequently.

After typing all this I found that if you google "a garage in Langley" you will find a site with more pictures......and actually my memory was not too bad!

Thanks for your message, don't forget to drop us a note when you have the opportunity.................Ken

Re: They tell me that Langley, BC

I have attended the Totem Thunderbird club's own show and shine at the boy scout camp in Vancouver and Dave supplied all the grilled chicken and what a great feast that was. Many of our club members attended the events and also enjoyed the fun.
Dave sure has a great collection and outstanding garage.
              Cheers,
              Jim
