  • I need tips too

Mine are about 1 inch or 2 shorter than I would like. I noticed they are tack welded on , has any one changed theirs? I ultimately will go to a Borla system but not for a years or so.

These are what I have on my car. Go to jegs.com Part# 958EVT-50. They're 3" ID on one end and fit over the Ford tips then reduce to 2-1/2" on the other end. SS and made by PYPES about $40.00 a pair. I drilled a hole threw both tips and put a screw in to keep them in place. Leroy

            Re: I need tips too

Sorry guys, my mystake. The correct part number is 958-EVT50. $37.99 a pair. The screw I used is SS and because the Ford tips are lined, the screw does not come into the flow of the exhaust. Also if you feel the tips are too long you can cut them down at the 2-1/2 inch end at the slash-cut. I opted not to cut mine because I would loose the PYPES logo etched on the top of each tip. I've had these on for about 2 years now and have had many positive comments about them. Becuase I don't have any resinators these tips have also helped eliminate a slight drone I had inside the car at certain RPMs due to the fact the stock tips were so close to the edge of the under carraige. Re: I need tips too

Ron, what "HANDYMAN" and I did was have the original tips cut off flush with the back of the resonators and had the new stainless tips cut to the length we wanted and then had them welded to the back of the resonators. The new tips were 18" before they were cut to the size we wanted and are 31/2 in.in diameter with a slashed, rolled edge. The new tips even produce a deeper, mellow sound. We are both pleased with the results. If you come to Tom's Cruise this Sat. both of us will be there and you can see for yourself.

Yup! I just checked the site myself. Type in 958-EVT50 and hit search and it comes right up. Leroy

I used the same tips but had local machine shop cut the slashed ends to my desired length

Thanks for all the info'. Sorry I won't see you guyd this weekend, for spirits, but an important family event caused us to have to cancel. I wondedr after readind this and some comments on rear end noise if some of that noise was exhaust. I have had more than one Ford with Harmonic issues. I once had an Expedition that was so bad at 70 MPH you couldn't stand it and nothing F ord tried workred. Only between 68 and 74 mph.

                              Re: I need tips too

Thought I'd chime in on this thread. I have an unusual situation. Moondoggie has Borlas, but as many of you know, I bought MD from Don Fox 3+ yrs ago, and he was the one who installed the Borlas. He didn't like the Borla tips, took them off, and reinstalled the originals. I have been unsuccessful in trying to find out what he did with the Borla tips. Well, now those originals are rusted through, and I need to replace. I'm not going with the Borla tips, because the replacements are around $200...not worth it to me. Not fond of the above suggestion from jegs.com either. Looking for something that is like what is on MD now. Any other suggestions?
