Can anyone tell me if the 2002 birds are equipped with heated sideview mirrors, and if so how to activate them..

That was one of the problems as to why it didn't sell well. It was based on the Lincoln LS, cost much more than the LS, yet came with much less equipment.

But the LS doesn't have a Thunderbird emblem on it, either!

Not heated but the side vents on your dash are there to clear the door window glass so you can see the mirror. That is, assuming your mirror is not covered in ice.

Dot, you jest. What bird needs to clear their mirror from ice? In Ford's target market research they knew that no one would need heated mirrors. A better feature than heated mirrors would have been "garage queen dust" removers for the mirrors.

Roger, no jest. There are (or were) numerous pictures on this site of tbirds being "garaged" outside in snow country.

Roger, for the first 3 years mine was driven in all weather, even snow.

Just turn on your heated seats and put your hand on the mirror. There should be little resistance. Trying to remember what we did 30 years ago.

That was another problem ... 02's didn't have heated seats. I installed after-market heaters in our car.

Prestone windshield de-Icer used it plenty of times in N.Y. I also carried a small spray lock de-Icer in my coat in the winter. Now I have to look for my winter coat

My '05 is lacking lots of stuff other '05 makes had... I think my '01 BMW had more technology... but it remeinds me of the 91 IROC 5-spd convertible I had... a guy stopped me outside of a convenience store... asked me what kind of mileage it got... I said "terrible"... asked me how it handles in snow (Wis).. I said "miserable".... asked me how i liked it... "Damm.. i love it"

Yeah, but they sure look pretty!

As long as I've got a radio, A/C and a top that goes up and down, I've got it made since it doesn't see a winter anyway.

You know 50 years ago we drove our cars without many creature comforts. If you had heat and a defroster fan for the windshield you were cruising in style.

A/C? the windows went down didn't they?

Heated seats? Sure when the sun shone thru the glass!

And what the heck is a rear window defroster? You cranked up the fan on the heater, put the rear window down a little and in 15 or 20 miles you could see out the doggon thing.....a miracle of modern technology in 1960! Heck my 64 Bird had/has flow thru ventilation (in the front and out under the rear window vent).

All too often with things today we concentrate on what things are not, rather than what they are!

Counting my many blessings as the guy driving the Corolla looks on in envy!

Drive it like you stole it !!!
