  • Lincoln LS center stack trim panels

Has anyone with an LS ever removed the center console stack trim pieces?

(I imagine that the Tbird center trim pieces would come off using the same procedure.)

I removed the LS storage bin cover, and any screws (including a plastic locking pin) that I could see, but I still could not remove the storage bin itself.

It seems like the bin is the start of a chain that allows the dash pieces to be removed.

    Thanks

I've not done an LS, but the two are probably real close. Start with the console, gentle lift up. That releases the next one (seat heat switch on mine), then on up. The radio surround just pulls out - use a covered pry bar or plastic trim tools (Harbor Freight has good cheap ones). Just a matter of pull carefully and move logically.

Hold on sparky - - the AC vents pry out but not the radio. The radio is held in with 4 bolts exposed after the AC vents and the stuff under the radio/HVAC control panel is removed.

Sparky? Going from memory and I screwed up. Think twice, post once. Thanks, Bucko.

I don't need to remove the radio.

The on board compter control module snapped on one side. I need to pull off the trim panels to see if it's an easy snap in replacement.

Sounds serious - just don't damage the dilithium crystals when you remove it.

Most parts are easy snap in - they just cost a fortune to replace. Good luck!

Part is $75, labor about $125.

Dealer tells me that it takes about 45 minutes to remove the trim pieces, so I'm guessing half that time if you know how to do it.

Plus, I get Ford (and Motorcraft parts) at dealer cost.

And, since I used to work in a body shop many moons ago, I may just take the challenge, because, from the shop drawing, it looks like a snap-in once you remove the trim.

We'll see. I've got this subject open on the Galaxie and Marauder chatboxes also.
