My old Sirius Sportster radio finally died, so until I get around to fooling with the built in sat. radio, I bought an XM/Sirius Onyx for its low profile and looks; the only problem is that the lighter outlet is always live, so I have to partially pull the plug when parked, but that's easy enough. I called Sirius to swap subscriptions to it and to my surprise found that although Sirius and XM are together, at present the subscriptions are not; my new radio is considered XM, so I had to cancel Sirius and call XM. This brings me to what I'd like to share, since it may benefit you. If you call XM and ask if they can give you the $77/year deal, there should be no problem. Sirius has a similar offer for renewing your subscription and I suspect that they will give you that for a new one if you mention the XM deal and/or the renewal deal. If one operator is not willing to go for this, call later and speak to someone else. I hope this will be of use.
The number for XM is: 800 XM Radio $77/year (totals to about $84/year)
The number for Sirius is: 866 325 7474 listener care and the offer is $6.42 per month for a year ($77.04/yr).
