    Love it!

I only had my first bird a few months when the winter hit -- and it is my daily driver for the most part. I think it did 'okay' in light snow (but I am not sure I love the tires I put on the car -- and my answer could be skewed by that).

That said, anything over a few inches, I took out my Jeep Wrangler to get to/from work.

Even if it was fine in the snow, I would be more concerned with someone else hitting me than anything else.

        Re: T-Birds and Snow??

I live in Nebraska where we do get some snow and have driven my Bird reluctantly in the snow.

I become very concerned about other drivers, salt on the roads, hard snow or ice, and other drivers ( yes I know I said that twice get the point).

I take mine to the mountains, it handles well on black ice, and a few inches of snow, 10 inches for me is a little to high.

I live in Central Pennsylvania and drive my T-bird daily, without snow tires, though they would be a better solution. However, we do not get 'that' much snow. The Bird has a light rear end in snow that will slide if you are not careful and you need to watch your accerlation and cornering. I drive cautiously and as slowly as traffic will allow in snow because traction is not great. But I've had no real problems in the 5+ years I've had it.

Yes, Our's was driven in a lot of snow when we lived in York Pa. In the past I have owned 5 other Birds starting in 1984, 1987,1990,1991 and 1995. Each of those Birds had to have extra weight put in the trunk just to get traction but the 2002 Bird didn't need this at all. It drove and handled great in the snow and I never put snow tires on it. A lot of this had to do with the traction control and the 50/50 weight distribution of the car.

40 % chance of snow here tonight and in the morning. Think I'll park the Bird outside so that I can say it's been in snow.

I will say that I spent 6 years in KC, Mo, and had quite a bit of snow and ice, but didn't see anyone using 4 snow tires. Generally two, or chains. I may add that I did see one individual with an Oldsmobile who had cut out the rear wheel wells and put on "duals"! Now that was a neat one!

                      Re: T-Birds and Snow??

I live in Baltimore and this is my first winter with my '02 Bird. Winter is generally pretty mild here, but I do not want to get any salt on my polished chrome wheels. Plus I want a little better traction when we do get snow. So I picked up a set of used '02 Jaguar Type S rims (16") and some used winter tires and I'm ready to go. I only drive 10 miles a day, so the milage will continue to remain low. I bought the car with 8K on it in the spring, and I now have 11K (great summer of touring). I did the same thing when I had my '98 BMW Z3 - kept it in almost prestine condition and drove it all winter with four winter wheels and tires on her. The Z also had traction control, but much lower clearance. I never got stuck, even in our big storm last winter. Bought her with 8K on it in 2004, and sold it this spring with 25K on her.
