On page 75 in the January 2011 magazine (it's a 10 Best issue), there is a list of 10 Best design details. Under "Ford Mustang Rear Turn Signals" it says: "Retro can be hellaciously lame-the last Thunderbird, anyone?-but the Mustang doesn't get lost in nostalgia, referencing the good ol' days only when it feels right. These three-light, sequential signals? Oh so right."

Re: Car and Driver Slams Our Birds
I always felt Motor Trend was the superior publication anyway......this just proves it! They lack taste, obviously choosing a multi million cookie cutter car over a limited production beauty.
Park a Mustang and a RetroBird side by side and see which draws more interest.........I rest my case!
Drive it like you stole it !!!

Re: Car and Driver Slams Our Birds
Doesn't really matter what they have to say. We all know what we have and if we are happy with this car that's all that matters.
I had those tail lights on my 67 Cougar. They are Here. Scotty, beam me up!IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHEREVisit the TBN Store

Re: Car and Driver Slams Our Birds
I choose to ignore their tbird dig......
As for the mustang lights, I was behind a car with them last week and at first I thought:
Cool
then I thought:
mesmerizing
then I thought:
irritating
After being stuck behind one at a long stop light, they really end up getting on your nerves.

I think this was likely a shot at Motor Trend too since they selected our Birds as Car Of The Year in 2002.sigpic

I've always considered those lights a 'Cougar thing' not Mustang.
When I think 'Mustang lights' I think of my '68 289 3-speed that had the blinker lights in the hood that you could only see from inside the car.

Re: Car and Driver Slams Our Birds
I've got sequential lights on my '65. Still think Mustangs are a dime a dozen on the road - they look nice but there are lots of them. Same thing with vettes and BMWs. I do lots of driving between TBird sightings.sigpic

Yes Ron, '65 T'bird was the first year for the sequentials. They also got very popular with the highway works department as they used them for their road signs to move traffic left or right.
Would really like to see a picture of that 1998 Bird however.

Like this one I had? Mine was a 1967 289 4 barrel carb automatic ordered from the factory. Loved the car. It was one of those you don't forget.Attached Filessigpic
