Good for Mr Hendrick. That is certainly one school system that can use the help.

Agree! This was obviously more about donating to the school system than getting the car.

Absolutely...I wish I had the $$ so I could have been a 'moron' too!

Good or bad reviews from MotorTrend, Car and Driver, Automobile, Edmund's, local newspapers, etc doesn't matter.

            1) Did the public like it and buy it?
            2) Did you like it and buy it?

            We report, you decide.

But, I will admit that so-so performance reviews of the 2003 Marauder changed my mind on purchasing the car.

Supporting a worth while cause you care about is always worth the money. Hard to imagine he even really wants or needs the volt. Probably donated it to this cause or some other he supports as well.

Yes, and the publicity he got for GM/Chevrolet didn't hurt, nor the publicity for his dealership, nor the tax write off for the $250K, nor the tax write off he'll get for donating the car. Point being, you can give quietly. All the hoopla is just tawdry self promotion.

Here is the inside scoop on this Chevy Volt. Jimmy Johnson has won five cup
championships and needs to be handicapped next year. This is the car he will be
                    driving next year.

Seriously this was a set up deal to promote the Chevy Volt. Hendrick does not
need any publicity he is quite well known. Government Motors and the Volt need
all the publicity they can get.

Sounds like we've got our own version of Scrooge.
C'mon, Sealy...throw some of your money away, burn it, or give it quietly away (I'll pm you my address)...
                      'Tis the season!

They had one there, but the owner of the dealership was adamant that he would not take less than $52,000. I checked a couple of other places, and they also wanted a similar ADM (additional dealer mark-up). It really put a damper on my interest until I saw all kind of advertisments in 2005 for the current model in the $34,000 to $35,000 range. In my mind, this dealer greed was one reason the Tbird was sales flop. I re-visited and finally bought one, but I think many other people just lost interest altogether.
I owned a black 1956 Thunderbird with both tops which I got for $1,500 in 1964. I enjoyed the car so much I promised myself that if Ford ever made another Thunderbird roadster I would buy it. I too looked longingly at the 2002 model and would have bought it if there had not been a regional $5,000 to $10,000 upcharge at the time and absolutely NO negotiating whatsoever. In 2003 I bought my red Thunderbird at a very reasonable discounted price. Suffice it to say, no buyers remorse here and i am glad I waited!
